Fit Rubber Tiles are easy to keep clean and are very low maintenance gym tiles. Cleaning of these rubber tiles typically consists of:
  • Vacuuming the floor tiles when necessary to remove loose or dry dirt, dust, or debris.
  • Periodically damp mop the rubber tiles with a mild soap and water solution. A couple of recommended soaps are Dawn dish detergent or Tide laundry detergent.
Note: Do not use any solvent or oil style cleaners such as Pinesol, Lysol, Murphy’s Oil Soap, WD40, paint thinner, etc. since these types of cleaners will break down the flooring over time.

Would your 1-1/4" rubber tiles work to protect a 32" porcelain tile floor inside a house? Will not be using anything over 50-pound dumbbells.
Our 1-1/4" Fit Rubber Tiles will be substantial enough to protect your porcelain tile. These tiles are very shock absorbent and are super thick. These tiles are typically used in Olympic lifting gyms or in gyms that are on a higher floor to dissipate noise transmission, so they will be more than enough for dropping weights that are 50 pounds and lower.
Could this flooring be used in a garage gym where we want to park cars when we are not working out?
Gene
You can use our 1-1/4" Fit Rubber Tiles as flooring in a garage gym where a car may park or drive over the tiles. These tiles are very shock absorbent making them great for Olympic lifts. Since these tiles are an interlocking tile, we recommend using a little bit of our Seam Sealer glue at the interlocks to keep the tiles in place. This will also help keep the tiles in place in the instance that you would have to turn the wheel when coming in or leaving your garage.
How do they smell? The last recycled rubber tiles I used on a terrace patio smelled so strongly that I would not use them indoors. We are looking for a basement gym flooring.
Renate Sieg Elwell
Our 1-1/4" Fit Rubber Tiles do have a rubber smell to them, but it is not super strong. To help mitigate this rubber smell, we recommend mopping the floor with a mild soap and water solution and then letting the floor air dry. You will want to make sure that where you install the flooring is well ventilated. If you are very sensitive to smells, you may need to repeat this process a few times to get the smell dissipated to an acceptable level.
I am putting a play structure in my backyard which is dirt at the moment, but I will be putting in grass. I would like to have a section for rubber tiles under and around the playset in the middle of the gras?s yard. However in the future, I may want to move the playset to a different spot. What tiles would be best over dirt and also be able to be pulled up and installed in a different area if I decide to move the playset in a couple of years? I don't want to use mulch because my dog will eat it. I live in southern California.
David
Our 1" Fit Rubber tiles can be placed over compact dirt, and can be moved from place to place as needed.
I am thinking about using these tiles as a weightlifting platform for my garage. Do these tiles connect straight and flat or do they connected uneven or lopsided at all? I would like to make sure there are no uneven spaces or warping.
Adnan Siddiqui
Our 1-1/4" Fit Rubber Tiles interlock straight and flat. These tiles would only interlock unevenly if the subfloor were majorly uneven. If that were the case, we would recommend fixing the subfloor issues before installing our tiles.
Do these require any additional parts such as dowels or quad connectors? Also, how would you recommend cutting them to size?
Our 1-1/4" Fit Rubber Tiles are an interlocking tile, so no dowels or quad blocks are required. To cut these tiles, we recommend using a large bread knife to cut them, or a band saw.
Can I put these on a plush carpet?
Yes, our 1-1/4" Fit Rubber Tiles have been designed to be installed over plush carpet with ease.
Do the tiles need to be installed against a wall. I have an open area of concrete that I want to use for weight lighting. No walls around.
Marc
You don't have to install our 1-1/4" Fit Rubber Tiles wall-to-wall. These tiles when installed, will stay in place due to the weight of the collective tiles and the fact that they have excellent slip-resistance. When installing these in the middle of a room, we would recommend installing the ramps around the whole floor to reduce tripping hazards.
Can these tiles be installed without adhesive? I am looking for a solution that I can set up when needed and take down afterward.
Stephen
Our 1-1/4" Fit Rubber Tiles do not need to be installed with adhesive. These tiles are interlocking and don't need adhesive. We do recommend placing some adhesive where the tiles interlock to prevent theft and to aid in keeping the tiles static during temperature fluctuations.
1 - Will these scuff or leave marks on hardwood floors or, say, white baseboards? 2 - I see that there's a 30-day return policy. If I wanted to return my order, would I need to find a freight shipping company to pick up and return the pallet, and would that cost be up to me?
Jason Handel
Our 1-1/4" Fit Rubber Tiles will not typically leave marks on hardwood floors. If you are concerned, we recommend placing a plastic sheet under the tiles to protect your flooring. When it comes to white baseboards, there is potential if the tiles were to move and rub against the baseboard that a mark could be left. Movement of the flooring should be a rare event, so if it does happen, we would recommend just cleaning the baseboard with Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser. For specifics on the return policy, please click on the link for our return policy or contact one of our Flooring Heroes to get the specifics for your particular product and order.
I am designing an area (bedroom/play area) for handicapped people that can only crawl/creep around. The idea is to cover the floor and 3' high wall areas. People may fall and hit walls and floors. The idea is to create a secure protective area free of accidents. Would the 1-1/4" thick mats function for this purpose? What is the density of the mat (lb/sq inch)?
JAVIER ESTRADA
Our1-1/4" Fit Rubber Tiles can be used for this application. Even though these rubber tiles are not tested for fall height, they will help to keep people safe if they were to fall. If you need a fall height-rated product, which essentially ensures that no major injuries would occur from a certain height, we would recommend going with one of our playground tiles. The set of playground tiles that is the most similar to this rubber floor tile is our PlaySafe Interlocking Playground Tiles. The density of our 1-1/4" Fit Rubber Tiles is 51 PCF.
Are the 1-1/4" fit tiles vulcanized rubber?
Our 1-1/4" Fit Rubber Tiles are not vulcanized.
