Sport play tiles are are easy to maintain and keep clean. Maintenance of this indoor/outdoor tile system typically includes:
  • Sweeping the surface of the rubber tile with a stiff outdoor bristle broom when necessary.
  • Spraying or hosing off the tiles with clean water as needed.
  • Vacuuming the surface of the rubber flooring with a shop vac if needed.
Note: If the tiles do become stained in anyway, use a mild soap and water solution and gently scrub the tiles with a soft nylon bristle brush or mop. Do not use any solvent or oil style cleaners such as Pinesol, Lysol, Murphy’s Oil Soap, WD40, paint thinner, etc. since these types of cleaners will break down the flooring over time.
  • 1" thick sport tiles can be loose laid using a dowel system to attach adjacent tiles. We recommend six dowels per tile.
  • 1" thick Sport play tiles can also be installed by adhering the tiles to a substrate such as a concrete pad, wood, asphalt, or compacted gravel. A polyurethane adhesive is normally recommended since polyurethane can handle freezing and thawing and is moisture cured.

Don't see what you're looking for?
Hello I am a PE teacher and my floor is hard tile. I am looking for the best rubber flooring to use. Can you play basketball on the 1 inch tiles? Would the edges meet up flush? I am going to need suggestions on what to do. My floor is 80'X40'.
Randy Burris
You can play basketball on our 1" Sports Play Tiles. The edges will not meet up flush. There will be a slight bevel where the tiles meet up. The best flooring options for playing basketball would be our Indoor Sports Tiles. To provide added cushion to the floor, we suggest placing a rubber underlay under the flooring. This will provide you with added impact attenuation, help quiet the floor, and protect the tile underneath.
How do these mats deal with matter, does it absorb or can you simply wipe it off. If they aren't impermeable, is there something that you can treat the mats with to make them more impermeable.
Arlo
Our 1" Sports Play Tiles will not absorb any matter. They will allow water and other liquids to pass through, but will not allow solid material to flow through. If these tiles were to be used in an area where animals may also play, we would recommend sealing the tiles with our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer. This will help to make the tiles impervious to water and other liquids.
I have installed ceramic vinyl, can this be installed on top ?
Anna
Our 1" Sports Play Tiles can be installed over ceramic vinyl. We suggest when installing these tiles over the flooring underneath, that a plastic tarp is placed between the tiles and the floor to prevent damage to the flooring below. Other than that, there is no need to remove the existing floor making for a quick and easy install.
I hope to move into a new apartment after the first of the year and I'd like to protect my kitchen floor. Would these tiles work in a kitchen decor?
Duane
Our 1" Sports Play Tiles can be installed indoors in a kitchen. When installing these tiles, we do recommend using our Seam Sealer glue between the tiles to prevent liquids from penetrating to the subfloor. These tiles are very easy to clean and maintain and are more slip resistant when wet. They are also mold and mildew resistant.
What would be the best type of adhesive to attach these to a concrete base?
Arlo
We recommend using our Polyurethane Adhesive when gluing our 1" Sports Play Tiles to concrete.
Can I use these outdoors in the rain? What size are they ?
Our 1" Sports Play Tiles were made to used indoors or out and would be fine in the elements no matter where installed. Rain, snow, ice, and heat won't destroy these tiles. The only thing you will notice is that they will fade over time in direct sunlight. The size of these rubber tiles is 2' x 2'.
If I used them in the backyard over dirt how would I secure them down?
susie blalock
Our Sports Play Tile interlock with each other via a dowel system and would stay in place due to the weight of the collective floor weight. You will want to make sure the ground that you install these tiles over is fairly flat and free of any large rocks or other debris. This will ensure the tiles interlock with each other properly.
Can this floor be used on the pool deck of an indoor pool as an exercise instructor mat?
Steve Frye
You can use our 1" Sports Play Tiles as flooring around an indoor pool deck as an exercise instructor mat. These rubber tiles are very slip resistant when wet and will allow water to pass through them, ensuring water does not pool on the flooring surface. These tiles are also very easy to clean and are mold and mildew resistant.
Are these tiles fire rated?
jim
Our 1" Sports Play Tiles are fire rated and have a Class III fire rating. If you would like documentation of this, please feel free to reach out to on of our Flooring Heroes via chat, email, or phone and they would be more than happy to send it to you.
I have a dock diving pool and am trying to find a BLUE padded mat (1" sports tile?) for the aluminum ramp to sit on at the bottom of the pool to protect the pool. The ramp is about 3' wide so the tile should be probably 4' or so extending out a bit on each side. If THIS isn't the correct product what do you have that would work to protect the bottom of the pool? I need ASAP!
Bonnie McDonald
Yes, the 1" Sports Play Tiles can be used at the bottom of the pool.
I plan to use these outdoors and I'm sure our dogs will urinate on them. Do you recommend the use of your Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer, or if liquids pass through, can we just rinse and/or power wash?
Our 1" Sports Play Tiles will allow water and other liquids to pass through, but if these tiles were to be used in an area where animals may also play, we would recommend sealing the tiles with our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer. This will help to make the tiles impervious to water and other liquids.
How well do these 2' x 2' tiles fit within the Rogue Deadlift platform if used in place of the Rogue Rubber Tiles?
Rob
The rubber tiles that Rogue uses in their platform is 1.5" thick, so you could use our 1" Sports Play Tiles, they will just be a 1/2" thinner. You would need 8 tiles to fill in the platform if you are only going to use rubber in the whole thing.
I am creating an outdoor play area for my grandkids. Do the tiles come with installation parts or are they separate?
deborah Cason
There are multiple ways to install our 1" Sports Play Tiles, with one of them using dowels. The dowel installation is our floating floor installation. If you would like to install your flooring with dowels, you would have to purchase them separately. If you don't you can glue the tiles down with a polyurethane adhesive or you can use double-sided tape to keep the tiles down. The last way to install the tiles is to just float them over your subfloor without any glue, tape, ore dowels.
Can these tiles be installed over dirt gravel or decompose granite inside an outdoor play house
Doug
Yes, our Our 1" Sports Play Tiles over dirt, however, please make sure the ground that you install these tiles over is fairly flat and free of any large rocks or other debris. These tiles interlock with each other via a dowel system and a flat surface underneath will ensure the tiles interlock with each other properly.
Can this be directly applied to my carpet for a home gym?
Jordan
Our 1" Sports Play Tiles can be installed over any type of carpet. These tiles use a dowel system to interlock the tiles to each other helping to keep the tiles in place no matter how thick your carpet or pad is. If you have a light-colored carpet and are concerned about the tiles staining the carpet, we recommend placing a plastic sheet between the tiles and the carpet.
Can this be installed on concrete around the pool? Basically, I want to hide the cracks in the concrete around the pool and beautify the look?
Steve
You may install the 1" Sports Play Tiles around the pool, however since these tiles are not porous, they will not drain water, in case there's rain. With these tiles, the water flows off the top towards the drain. We'd recommend you looking at our composite deck tiles or any of our outdoor drainage tiles for your purpose since these tiles will drain water easily and also beautify your pool area. However, you may still want to fill up the cracks before installing any tile to ensure they stay interlocked since all tiles need a solid hard surface underneath to stay put.
Can rubber playground tiles be used under an above ground pool?
Yes, you may use these tiles under an above ground pool.
I am planning on installing these over my roof. Can these be tiles be installed over a roof for entertaining, and maybe my kids roller skating occasionally? Should something be put on to protect the roof from NYC weather damage?
Our 1" Sports Play Tiles can be installed on a rooftop. These tiles are great as flooring for parties but may not be the best for roller skating on. These tiles have a beveled edge which can cause a tripping hazard when skating across them. If you are looking for a tile that doesn't have a beveled edge, we would recommend our Deck Top Roof Tiles.
Looking to install outside in a swing set play area. What’s the best base?
Gary
We recommend installing our flooring over any hard, flat surface. Concrete, asphalt, and compacted crushed granite are examples. A concrete pad would provide the best results for installing our flooring and keep your children safe, but you can also use compacted crushed granite if the swing set is over grass. We would recommend removing the existing grass and then adding in crushed granite. You would then compact this crushed granite layer to create a flat, hard surface. This will help to ensure that the tiles lay properly and help to keep your kids safe while at play.
Is this product made with crumb rubber?
nothing
Our pigmented or solid color 1" Sports Play Tiles are made with 100% recycled rubber crumb. The multi-colored tiles have a base that is 100% recycled rubber crumb topped with a 100% virgin EPDM rubber layer.
Are these tiles trimmed to fit? If so, how are they cut?
AG
You can cut our 1" Sports Play Tiles to fit any space. We recommend using a sharp utility knife and a straight edge to cut the tiles to fit. Remember to measure twice and cut once!

  Great Flooring
Verified Purchase
Self-installed in Exercise Room
Julie Heisel from Franklin, MI wrote...
We ordered the ″earth″ color 1″ sports play tiles for an exercise room. They look beautiful! The only caution I have is that the video is misleading as to what it takes to install them. Video said the dowels would fit in the holes and we just needed a bread knife to cut the tiles. This was an understatement. It was a two-person job with a drill to make bigger holes for the dowels and they used a power jigsaw to cut the tiles.

  beautiful finish product
Self-installed in Condo units
Dave from South Lake Tahoe, ca wrote...
This was the perfect product to cover our many concrete balconies and porches. The installation was difficult to insert the dowels. We used some clear silicone spray that made it easier to assemble. We also used 2″x4″ metal edging for the perimeter. Our owners liked the finished product.

The tiles were as pictured and were good quality. There was a strong odor - had to leave window open for a couple days but seems to have gotten better.
