Vinyl rolls are easy to clean and maintain. Cleaning of this flooring typically includes:
  • Sweeping or vacuuming any loose crumbs, dust, or debris from the floor when necessary.
  • Light damp mopping to remove light staining or spills. Remove scuffs and excessive soil by carefully scrubbing.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, as discoloration may occur. We recommend closing blinds or drapes during peak sunlight hours to prolong the life of the floor.
Note: This is not a stainproof product. Leaving certain harsh chemicals or spills on the floor for an extended time may cause some staining and/or damage. Always clean up a spill immediately to reduce the chance of staining or other damage to your flooring.
When installing rolled vinyl dance flooring, it is recommended that you use some kind of adhesive to prevent the rolls from moving around or sliding apart between adjacent rolls. The most common methods of adhering Marley dance floors to the sub floor are:

A: Double Sided Tape Installation
  1. First, clean your subfloor so that it is free of all dust, dirt, and debris.
  2. Loose lay your rolls in the room as you would like them to look after a complete installation. Let the rolls relax for up to 24-48 hours to ensure proper installation of your new flooring.
  3. Make any necessary cuts to the rolls to fit them into the room using a straight edge and a utility knife with a fresh blade. We recommend leaving a 1/4" gap around the rolls to account for expansion and contraction.
  4. You can either apply double-sided carpet tape to the underside of each roll around the roll perimeters. Then place the vinyl rolls back into position on top of the double-sided tape.
  5. Or you can use mat tape to secure rolls to the floor from the top, as well as joining multiple rolls together.
  6. Install shiny side down, matte side up. The dance surface (top) is textured slightly, called calendaring which looks like tiny goosebumps. Place vinyl rolls back into position on top of the double-sided tape.

B: Glue Installation
  1. First clean your subfloor so that it is free of all dirt, dust, and debris. Also, when gluing your flooring down, it is recommended that the subfloor is free of any moisture.
We recommend leaving a gap around the rolls roughly the thickness of the rolls being used to account for expansion and contraction.
  4. Install shiny side down, matte side up. The dance surface (top) is textured slightly, called calendaring which looks like tiny goosebumps.
  5. Roll up the rolls at one end of the room. Put down a 10’ long light layer of adhesive and unroll 10’ of the flooring into the adhesive at a time.
  6. Repeat this step for every 10' of roll length until the entire roll has been unrolled into it desired position.
  7. After all the rolls have been glued down, it is often recommended to use a 100-Lb. roller on the floor to guarantee good adherence to the subfloor. If a roller is not available, walking on the flooring in small choppy steps may also work.
Note: It is normal to receive an extra few inches on each roll. This allows for potential material contraction from the time it is cut to the time of installation. Be sure to let product properly acclimate prior to installation.
Rolls are guaranteed to be free from manufacturing defects. We recommend inspecting the floors prior to installation to ensure no defect upon arrival. Faulty installation, improper use and normal wear are not cause for warranty claim. For printable warranty information, please Click Here.

Don't see what you're looking for?
Can this be applied directly to a concrete floor or should it be used on a wooden floor?
Brian Young
We recommend using a subfloor between concrete and the dance roll. We offer subfloor tiles for this purpose.
Can you use tap and pointe shoes on this floor? Looking for a floor that can use both. Does this require sub flooring?
Yes this floor is approved for tap and point. We would recommend a subflooring for dancer safety.
How does the roll work for Tap shoes? Does the sound come through, and do tap shoes scuff the floor?
Fairdale Christian Church
This roll does work well for tap shoes and it will allow sound to come through although not quite as loud as a hard tile flooring would. Hard soled shoes do have the potential to scruff the flooring, as with any Marley material.
Does this floor come in a reversible option, Gray/Black, or only Gray or Black?
Kim
Our VesaStep Dance Floor Rolls don't come in a reversible option. If you want a reversible option, we recommend purchasing our ProStep Dance Rolls.
Hi Could this flooring be rolled out on top of a low level carpeting? Or would it have to be attached to a subflooring? During quarantine my daughter does different types of dance and would like to have a better surface that low level carpet to do her pirouettes and turns? thank you
Mary
We do recommend putting a dense, flat layer between the dance roll and the carpet to provide a sturdy dance surface. You can use plywood sheeting or purchase our subfloor dance tiles.
Does the flooring work well for Irish dancers does the hard shoe rip the flooring
Cc
This dance roll is approved for use with hard sole shoes.
Does this HAVE to be taped down? I know it could slide a little bit, but can it be used to lay down on our hardwood to protect them from home-dancing, without permanently installing it and/or taping it down?
For dancer safety, we recommend taping the rolls in place.
When installing the floor, does it matter which side is up?
Mary Oxford
Install shiny side down, matte side up. The dance surface (top) is textured slightly, called calendaring which looks like tiny goosebumps.
Is this floor portable? Can it be roll back up and reused?
Susan
Yes, you can do that!
Can this floor withstand cold temperatures in unheated garage?
Lori Diehl
We would not recommend leaving the rolls in that type of environment. If the roll itself were to get close to freezing it could become brittle and damaged.
Would this work well for a wedding dance floor?
You can use our VersaStep Dance Floor Rolls as a dance floor for a wedding, but it may not be the best choice. Since several different types of shoes will be worn at weddings, we typically will recommend one of our dance tiles or dance tile kits as the best options for dance floors at weddings. You can find these options on our Dance Flooring page.
Can this be used over tile for jazz, contemporary styles or does there have to be subfloor tiles purchased too?
Carlin
You will want to use a proper subfloor to save your joints. Please see our dance subfloor options.
We’re planning to install a dance floor at our basement for our daughter to practice. The basement floor is carpet. We would like to know what we need for installation with pro step dance floor roll
Hsing

What size are the precut rolls?
Mrs. C.
Our pre-cut Versastep Professional Dance Floor Rolls are 5.25' x 60' for 315 sqft per pre-cut roll.
Is this floor medium-fast or medium slow?
Catherine
VersaStep Professional Dance Floor Rolls are Medium-Fast
Does this floor have a high shine?
Alonzo Alcaraz
Our VersaStep Professional Dance Floor Rolls are designed to be installed shiny side down leaving the matte side up. The dance surface (top) is textured slightly, called calendaring which looks like tiny goosebumps.
What is the expected life of the verastep floor if properly maintained?
Our Versastep Professional Dance Floor Rolls come with a 5-year warranty that covers any defects in manufacturing but, with proper maintenance, you should be able to use this flooring for 10-15 years or longer.
I am installing a small raised black box theater stage in a Community theater and was wondering if VersaStep could be used on top of plywood. Also, does this need to be glued down on the stage or can it just be taped in place.
Bill
Our VersaStep Professional Dance Flooring is an excellent choice for your community theater stage. It can be installed directly on top of plywood, but we recommend using a subfloor to protect both the wood floor underneath and the Dance Roll itself.
Looking at VersaStep Professional Dance Floor rolls...These would be used in a shared space of a concessions stand/workout room (dumbbells)/dance studio. I would need to bring in for dance classes and remove for the other uses of the space. Curious on the heaviness and portability. The space is 20x27. I need to determine if this is too heavy for me to move in/out several times a week during my classes.
Our Versastep Professional Dance Floor Rolls weight approximately 2.5lbs per 10 LF or 52.5 sqft of surface area. For you to cover an area that measures 20'x27' you would need approximal 540 sqft of flooring making the total weight of the rolls approx. 25 lbs.

We put a roll of this flooring over our rubber mat gym floor so that our daughters could do their dance classes while in quarantine and it works great! They are doing tap, ballet, and jazz and say it feels like their flooring at the dance studio.
