Vinyl flooring rolls are easy to clean. Maintenance of this rolled flooring typically includes:
  • Vacuuming any loose crumbs, dirt, dust, or debris from the vinyl floor covering when necessary.
  • Occasional damp mopping of the flooring rolls with a mild soap and water solution. A few recommended soaps are Dawn dish detergent or Tide laundry detergent. Rinse floor thoroughly and allow to dry completely.
Note: Do not use any solvent or oil style cleaners such as Pinesol, Lysol, Murphy’s Oil Soap, WD40, paint thinner, etc. since these types of cleaners will break down the flooring over time.

When installing rolled vinyl flooring, it is recommended that you use some kind of adhesive to prevent the rolls from moving around or sliding apart between adjacent rolls. Here are some common methods of installing vinyl rolls:

A: Double Sided Tape Installation
  • First you will want to clean your sub floor so that it is free of all dust, dirt, and debris.
  • Loose lay your rolls in the room as you would like them to look after a complete installation. Let the rolls relax for up to 24-48 hours to ensure proper installation of your new flooring.
  • Make any necessary cuts to the rolls to fit them into the room using a Straight Edge and a Utility Knife with a fresh blade.
  • Apply double sided tape to perimeter of each roll.
  • Place rolls back into position on top of the double sided tape.

B: Glue Installation
  • First clean your sub floor so that it is free of all dirt, dust and debris. Also, when gluing your flooring down, it is recommended that the sub floor is free of any moisture.
  • Roll up the rolls at one end of the room. Put down a 10 foot long light layer of pressure sensitive adhesive and unroll 10 feet of the flooring into the adhesive at a time.
  • Repeat this step for every 10 feet of roll length until the entire roll has been unrolled into it desired position.
  • After all rolls have been glued down, it is often recommended to use a 100 pound roller on the floor in order to guarantee good adherence to the sub floor. If a roller is not available, walking on the flooring in small choppy steps may also work.

C: Heat Welding Instructions
  • Heat welding should be done after the flooring adhesive has set up, usually the following day.
  • Seam edges should be slightly gapped and vertical. Wide gapped or undercut seams will prevent quality welds.
  • The depth of the groove should be 1/2 to 2/3 the thickness of the material. Be careful not to go too deep. The groove should also be centered along the two edges. This is very important to ensure proper strength and bonding of the welding rod.
  • Clean grooves thoroughly of all foreign contamination, including dust.
  • Use only professional quality welding equipment that will maintain sufficient temperatures. Many types, sizes and styles of welding tips are available today. A tip should be chosen to produce a quality weld without damaging the appearance of the sheet vinyl.
  • Preheat welding gun before beginning. Temperature should be set to approximately 750 degrees. It is recommended that the installer perform a test weld on some waste material to verify proper temperature and welding speed prior to welding installed material.
  • Determine the correct welding speed by ensuring that the welding rod actually fuses into the groove. A small ridge should form on either side of the welding rod, at the vinyl surface. If no ridge forms, you have not heat welded the seam.
  • While the welding rod is still warm, trim off 1/2 -2/3 the excess rod with a spatula knife and trim plate in one continuous movement.
  • After the rod has cooled to room temperature, make the final trim pass using only a razor sharp spatula knife in one continuous movement.
  • Apply a glaze to the surface of the trimmed weld. Remove the tip from the welding gun. Hold the gun a few inches above the welded seam and apply hot air along the seam until the surface of the weld rod begins to shine. The shine should not exceed the sheen level of the flooring. The glazed seam will be less porous, smoother, and less noticeable.

  Nice practice mat
Chloe from Houston, Texas wrote...
I am very pleased with the mat and that I was able to get it delivered quite quickly. It's large but I can roll it up and stand it in the corner when not in use so it isn't in the way.
