Accessories for 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls

Description - The 8mm (5/16” thick) custom cut Strong Rubber rolls are a great, all around product for both consumer and commercial clients. The thickness is our most popular, ‘do it all’ product. The rubber roll flooring option has been designed for customers looking for a product thicker than our 1/4” thick residential rubber rolls yet thinner than the 3/8” commercial grade rolls. The 8mm rolled rubber offers a low price for home owners that are looking for more ‘cushion’ than the 1/4” residential grade rolled rubber. For commercial use, the 8mm thick rolled rubber is a durable flooring option with the ability to withstand all but the most extreme use. An additional perk is that this rubber flooring comes complete with an industry leading full 5 year warranty.
Material – Recycled rubber and EPDM colored rubber flecks.
Width – 4 feet wide per roll
Length – The 8mm rubber rolls are custom cut to each customer’s desired length. This feature is free of charge provided that each roll length is at least 15’ long and ordered in whole increments (i.e. 15’, 16’, 17’, etc.). It is normal to receive extra inches on each roll as this allows for quick and easy installation.
Thickness – 8mm (Approx. 5/16")
Weight – 2.2 Lbs. per square foot.
Origin – Made in the USA
Recommended Uses – The 8mm roll is the perfect flooring solution that offers a non slip surface and anti fatigue like qualities. Custom cut 8mm strong rubber rolls are excellent in a variety of locations: home gyms, commercial weight rooms, fitness facilities, under exercise equipment, basement and children play room flooring, pet care facilities, locker room flooring (where spike protection might be needed) and fit nicely over radiant heated floor systems. The rubber rolls are also used outside on decks, patios, boats and boat docks; providing a protected, non slip surface. This rubber flooring choice is truly the ‘all around, do it all’ flooring solution.

  • 8mm Strong rubber rolls in our quick ship colors typically ship within 5-10 business days and deliver within 7-15 business days depending on your location.
  • An email will automatically be sent to you with your tracking information as soon as your rolled rubber gym flooring ships and tracking information becomes available.

5/16" (8mm) Strong rubber rolls are easy to clean and maintain. Maintenance of these rubber rolls typically includes:
  • Vacuuming any loose crumbs, dust, or debris from the rolled rubber flooring surface when necessary.
  • Occasional damp mopping of the rubber rolls with a mild soap and water solution. A few recommended soaps are Dawn dish detergent or Tide laundry detergent.
Note: Do not use any solvent or oil style cleaners such as Pinesol, Lysol, Murphy’s Oil Soap, WD40, paint thinner, etc. since these types of cleaners will break down the flooring over time.

When installing rolled rubber flooring, it is recommended that you use some kind of adhesive to prevent the rolls from moving around or sliding apart between adjacent rolls. The most common methods of adhering rubber rolls to the sub floor are:

A: Double Sided Tape Installation
  • First you will want to clean your sub floor so that it is free of all dust, dirt, and debris.
  • Loose lay your rolls in the room as you would like them to look after a complete installation. Let the rolls relax for up to 24-48 hours to ensure proper installation of your new flooring.
  • Note: Rolls may be directional so make sure the color matches on each roll. If the roll colors do not match, flip them or turn them 180 degrees to ensure color matches.
  • Make any necessary cuts to the rolls to fit them into the room using a Straight Edge and a Utility Knife with a fresh blade. We recommend leaving a gap around the rolls roughly the thickness of the rolls being used to account for expansion and contraction.
  • Apply double sided tape to perimeter of each roll.
  • Place rubber rolls back into position on top of the double sided tape.

  • B: Glue Installation
    • First clean your sub floor so that it is free of all dirt, dust and debris. Also, when gluing your flooring down, it is recommended that the sub floor is free of any moisture.
    • Roll up the rolls at one end of the room. Put down a 10 foot long light layer of polyurethane adhesive and unroll 10 of the flooring into the adhesive at a time.
    • Repeat this step for every 10 feet of roll length until the entire roll has been unrolled into it desired position.
    • After all rolls have been glued down, it is often recommended to use a 100 pound roller on the floor in order to guarantee good adherence to the sub floor. If a roller is not available, walking on the flooring in small choppy steps may also work.

    Q:

I was wondering how your product would hold up to being put in a horse trailer. Our horses weigh an average of 1000 lbs and of course would have horse shoes on. The price of rubber stall mats is through the roof and we really like the price of your flooring. Thank you in advance for any help in this matter.

    A:

Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls would be able to handle the weight of horses on it in your horse trailer.

    Q:

Will this mat hold up on the bottom of floor in boat. Is it slippery when wet.

    A:

Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls can be installed as flooring in a boat. A great property of rubber flooring is that it is more slip resistant when wet. So you will be in a safer situation with these rolls as your flooring vs. other flooring types. The only things you may notice is that the rolls may fade in the direct sunlight and that there may be some salts that embed themselves in the pores of the floor depending on what type of water this boat is going.

    Q:

How do you advise adhering the rubber mat down to the floor?

    A:

For most home gym installations, you can use double sided tape to adhere our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls to the subfloor. For commercial installations, we recommend using glue to install the rubber to the subfloor.

    Q:

I am looking for flooring for our dog daycare. Have you had anyone use the 8mm for this type of application?

    A:

Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls have been used in doggy daycares.

    Q:

Is there anyway to get the 8mm products in 1 seamless 7 foot wide by 16 foot long piece? I have an enclosed trailer and would like to cover the entire floor area.

    A:

Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls only come in a 4' wide roll.

    Q:

I would like to lay down 2 strips of 15' next to each other for a work area within a room. They would not be laid wall to wall however. It would be over concrete. Will these mats slide around if they were used for plyometric type workouts not being wall to wall?

    A:

In most cases, our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls would be heavy enough to not move while doing your Plyometric exercises. In the rare chance that there were to be some movement, you can use some double sided tape underneath the rolls to keep them in place.

    Q:

Can I lay your rubber flooring on top of finished hardwood floors without ruining the finish?

    A:

Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls can be installed over hardwood flooring without ruining the finish in most instances. If you are concerned about the rubber ruining the hardwood flooring underneath, we recommend placing a plastic sheet underneath the rubber flooring.

    Q:

Could you please recommend which your rubber rolls can be use in direct sunlight for many years. I am planning to use it as roof shringles in my house. Thanks

    A:

Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls can be laid in direct sunlight for many years. The only thing you will see, as with anything, there will be some fading. Other than that, these rolls will be able to withstand the daily onslaught presented in an outdoor environment.

I was advised to glue this down to the plywood floor which we did. I bought this flooring for a good gym surface for plyometrics and basically to quiet down loudness of a mini trampoline in the room. I wish I had bought the thicker flooring. The reviews said the 8mm is this most common for gyms, and I was afraid the thicker one would not fit up against the carpet or tile floor it connects. however I find this flooring to be very hard, no give, and it is very loud- I am disappointed I went with the reviews and suggestions of the people I talked to.

if it wasnt for the high cost of shipping, I would cover my whole BikeShop with it. But, I have to just cover the rest with wooden floor. Maybe you guys should have your own shipping trucks.

Worked perfect
5/5 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls
Jeremy from Lapeer, MI
I purchased, 4, 18'x4' rolls of the 8mm rubber flooring. I want to say it probably was the easiest project I did around my house. I am a handy person, and this was simple enough for a not-so-handy person to tackle. I wanted a rubber floor for the gym I made in our home basement. I wanted to include photos, but this email sat in my email box too long, I want to spread the word. Following is all it took to get this installed....by MYSELF! First, clean the sub-floor and mop it, let dry, then simply roll out the mats, cut them to fit the room, let them sit for a day or two to get acclimated to the surroundings, then lift up the outside edges and seams and apply the double sided tape (I purchased this too) to fasten to the floor. This step reminded me of my High School Wrestling days, since I would run and "stomp" at the seams, to be sure they were "tight" before taping. I didn't want something permanent, in the event I wanted to change that room someday. Thus...the tape! Worked wonderful. Overall, it turned out nice. I get compliments on how the seams "cannot be detected". I know where they are, but without looking closely, you cannot see them. My room was 17'x15', so it wasn't super big, but perfect for this product! And the 8mm is VERY durable for a gym floor. I wanted something a little more durable than what I seen out there, this was perfect. Kind of tough to cut (which is good), I used a Carpet Knife (switching to new blades often) and a T-square...worked perfect! I will refer people to this site if they want a good rubber flooring product. I see I can send some pics to the email below, I will forward a few.

Great stuff
4/5 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls
Jerry Harris from Woodland, Ca.
I got the 8 mm baby blue rubber flooring. It looks great when installed and was fairly easy to install by myself. One thing to be aware of is, make sure the color is specified when ordering. There are different options of colors between the pre-cut and rolled and I wanted the bright blue but got the baby blue. It turned out to work for me but if it hadn't shipping would have been a great cost to me. I highly recommend using double sided carpet tape which I got from Home Depot for about $8 to do a 12 x 24 room.

Do it yourself = Great Value
5/5 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls
Anonymous from Great Mills, MD
I planned on installing the rubber matting in my 12x14 exercise room and doing it myself. My local flooring dealer wanted $1800 for one roll (4'x50')of 3/8" rubber floor cover. I thought for that much it would include delivery but I was informed that I would have to drive to their warehouse (1 hour drive) and pick it up myself. I decided to research this online and found the Rubber Flooring INC website. I purchased 3 rolls for $532 shipping included. One week later the freight delivery driver was dropping off the pallet in my garage. It was easy to install by myself but would recommend having someone assist with the lifting/installing. I laid it on a Sunday, allowed the rubber to relax from the rolled state it was in, and the next weekend I used double sided tape around the edges except where it lies beneath the baseboard. Depending on where/what you plan on using the flooring for, you may not need to use any adhesive products during the installation. Approximate cost savings $1260.

Awesome Product
5/5 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls
Anonymous from Seminole, FL
This was a great choice for our home gym. Did not order samples first, just went ahead with ordering 4 rolls, which were heavy but relatively easy to work with and install. Put down on concrete and we used PL400 around the seams. We chose the color with purple and it looks great. Haven't put any equipment on it yet, but I am sure it will stand up to any weight. Would recommend to others.

Fast and easy install
5/5 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls
George Lewers from Greensboro, GA
Only had a small project (264 Sq. ft.), but the product worked out great. Cutting was relatively easy with a heavy utility knife and thick straight edge. Edges of the rolls were in good shape, so I didn't even cut an overlap except at the end. The product is heavy and wants to lay flat. I would use it again in a heartbeat!
