These interlocking tiles are primarily used in wall to wall installations however they can be made into interlocking mats of various sizes by simply cutting off the interlocking tabs on the exterior of the gym floor tiles where necessary. These tiles appear virtually seamless once locked together and are backed with an industry leading five year warranty. Like our standard strong tiles, these designer series rubber gym tiles can be used inside or out and offer a safe, anti-slip, and sound proofing floor tile solution.
Material – These resilient interlocking floor tiles are constructed of recycled SBR rubber and high colored virgin rubber.
Size – 23” x 23” (Note: Tiles can be interlocked with our standard 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles)
Thickness – 8 mm thick (approx. 5/16")
Weight – Each gym tile weighs approximately 8 Lbs.
Origin – Made in the USA
Recommended Uses – Our designer series strong rubber tiles are one of our best selling tile solutions available due to the wide variety of color options that have been used in a wide variety of applications. The most common use of these tiles is as a general sports flooring. Some common examples include weight room flooring, as a resilient flooring for use in home gyms, and as commercial rubber gym floor covering. Some other ways this flooring has been used successfully in the past include as playroom flooring, as interlocking dog kennel mats, and as a basement rec room floor system. These tiles truly offer a multi-use flooring solution where a shock absorbing, anti-fatigue floor solution would be useful.

Strong rubber tiles are very durable, easy to maintain, and easy to keep clean. Maintenance of these rubber gym tiles typically includes:
  • Vacuuming any loose crumbs, dust, or debris from the gym floor covering surface when necessary.
  • Occasional damp mopping of the sports flooring with a mild soap and water solution. A few recommended soaps are Dawn dish detergent or Tide laundry detergent.
Note: Do not use any solvent or oil style cleaners such as Pinesol, Lysol, Murphy’s Oil Soap, WD40, paint thinner, etc. since these types of cleaners will break down the flooring over time.

Installation of interlocking tiles is very simple and typically done by the consumer. Typical installation of these tiles is as follows:
  • First, clean your sub floor so it is free of all dirt, grease or debris.
  • Snap a chalk line on the sub floor 24” from one wall in your room. Snap another chalk line on the subfloor 24” from an adjacent wall. You should now have a pair of perpendicular lines making an approximate 90-degree angle.
  • Begin laying the interlocking tiles along the chalk lines, snapping the locks together as you go. Arrows are located on the back of your tiles, when installing the tiles all the arrows should be pointing in the same direction.
  • Leave the perimeter of the room open until the field is installed.
  • After the field is covered, go back and cut in tiles along the walls in the room. It is recommended to leave a gap along the wall roughly the thickness of the tiles being used to account for expansion and contraction of the floor in varied temperature ranges.
Note: When piecing interlocking tiles together, adhesives are usually not used since the weight of the locked together product is usually enough to keep the floor tiles from moving. However, if you do experience movement and would like to ensure that the tiles do not slide at all, some double-sided tape or mat tape can be used around the perimeter of the installation to prevent any movement.

    Q:

I have newly installed carpet and am looking to protect it from indentations from a stationary bike and treadmill? Any experience on this and will it be stable?

    A:

Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designers Series have been used as a custom mats under treadmills and stationary bikes and will keep them from indenting your carpet. If the carpet is a low pile or medium pile carpet, stability will not be an issue.

    Q:

Can these tiles be placed over vinyl plank flooring without the problem of discoloring the vinyl underneath?

    A:

Like oil and water, rubber and vinyl do not mix. We do not recommend placing rubber flooring over any vinyl due to the fact that discoloring of the vinyl can occur over time. But one way to get around this is by placing a plastic sheet between the rubber flooring and the vinyl. This will help to prevent staining of the vinyl underneath.

    Q:

Can I use it in a residential garage that will double as a workout room. We will be parking a car on it also.

    A:

Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series can be installed in a garage. If a car is parked over them, you would have to make sure no oil from the car gets on the flooring surface. Oil from the car can cause the floor to break down. Our rubber tiles are not the best product for this application due to separation that can occur when a car turns it wheels on the floor, but can still be used for this dual purpose. We do have these same colors in a roll format that will work better and we do also offer softer PVC tiles that will better handle the oils from the car and tires. Those tiles are part of our Flex Tile series.

    Q:

What specs do you have on the chemical makeup of the materials and processes in these tiles to take into account with small children playing around them indoors?

    A:

Spec sheets and MSDS sheets can be obtained for the 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series from our customer service reps via email. All of our rubber flooring is thoroughly tested and is safe for kids and adults alike.

    Q:

We want to place rubber tiles/mats on a hardwood floor, because we will be using half of our bonus room for exercise. We may want to remove the tiles later. Will they damage the hardwood? Should we use double stick tape for stability, even if we place the tiles wall-to-wall?

    A:

Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series tiles can be placed over hardwood. These tiles do not need any tape for stability when placed wall-to-wall. When interlocked they hold each other down. The tiles typically do not stain hardwood, but there can be a possibility of staining over time. If staining is a concern, you can place a plastic sheet underneath the flooring.

    Q:

Will a concrete floor sweat under the rubber tiles or do you have to paint the concrete first?

    A:

Concrete is a porous surface and can sweat if there is a water issue. If you do have water coming up from the concrete, you can either seal the floor or place a plastic sheet between the flooring and the concrete.

    Q:

These will be installed in a computer room. What is the ESD rating of these mats? Is there any issue with installing the tiles over low-pile commercial carpeting? Also, on the outer edge pieces, are there separate pieces available to square the mats interlocking sides off or do i just cut them off? Can I roll chairs on this mat?

    A:

Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series tiles are not tested for ESD. So no rating can be given. These tiles can be installed over a low pile commercial carpet. To create a smooth edge, you would have to cut the tiles with a straight edge and a utility knife. Since these rubber tiles are dense and and smooth, a chair can be easily rolled over them.

    Q:

We have a basement that sometimes leaks in water when it rains heavily--usually when our gutters are full of leaves and debris. We've had to rip up our carpet down there and I'm looking for a convenient solution other than replacing the carpet. Would these tiles be able to withstand some water and are they easily removed to dry out and put back down?

    A:

Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series are a great solution for your basement issues. Since these tiles are interlocking, if your basement were to flood you can easily remove the tiles and let them dry. Once dried and cleaned, you can then easily place them back in the basement. Also, if you start to see the basement flood, you can start to move the tiles before they all get wet saving you some time cleaning.

    Q:

I don't need 50 tiles. Why can't I just get 25 tiles of the 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series?

    A:

Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series are custom made in batches. The minimum batch amount that can be made is 50 tiles. This helps to keep the color of the floor consistent.

    Q:

What do the percentages stand for next to color names - e.g., Coffee Creek is 95% and Terracotta is 10%?

    A:

The numbers next to the colors stand for the amount of color that is present in the tiles. So the amount of color that is in our Terracotta tile is 10%, whereas in our Coffee Creek tile it is 95%. So the higher the percentage, the less black you will see.

    Q:

Can your 8mm rubber tile design series be used behind a bar or restaurant? Spills will happen and the floor is mopped every day .

    A:

Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series tiles are great behind bars or as restaurant flooring. Rubber when wet is more slip resistant and is very easy to clean and maintain. To clean the floor, we recommend the use of our Rubber Floor Cleaner and Degreaser or a mild soap and water solution. You will want to use a synthetic mop head when mopping the flooring.

Our New Basement Floor - The Best Decision We Made
5/5 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series
Emily from Portland, Oregon
Completed a basement remodel for a home business. What to put on the floor?!? We had much to consider: rainy Portland, wanted something extremely durable, easy to clean, quiet and soft. Could not find anything that fit our needs. Started to notice my gym's flooring and looked online for rubber flooring. We had a very difficult time trying to decide on the color. Because the ceilings are low, we did not want a dark floor and a dark room. We loved the Designer Series Strong Rubber, 8mm, in the tan color. The price held us back a bit. We could not find anything comparable. So, we went ahead with our order, but were still worried if we would like it. My husband installed the flooring. It was very easy for him to do. It totally transformed our room. Our contractors kept telling us, the floor was beautiful and was the "STAR" of the remodel. They marveled at how you couldn't even see the seams! I found that odd, since they didn't praise anything they did! My customers all ask, "What is this flooring?" "It is REALLY nice!" This floor never looks dirty! People track in dirt and little rocks, kids have eaten in there and left crumbs all over. But, you never see anything on the floor. The seams are really tight and the tiles are heavy, so dirt doesn't stick between the tiles. We have accidentally dropped heavy tools on the floor and there are no nicks or dents! Couple of things to think about. We put masking tape on the floor, before we painted the woodwork. It left darker gummy marks in some areas. We can't get it off (never did call the company to find a solution). Thankfully we bought extra tiles. Do not put masking tape on the floor! Also, the plywood underneath the tiles, was not perfectly flat. When we walked on the rubber tiles we could feel raised spots. We removed the tiles and scraped down the floor in those areas. The tiles lift off easily with a paint can opener. Beautiful looking and extremely durable floor!!

Very Happy

I love the new exercise room floor. Installation wasn't too bad. Just a bit difficult around door frames. I suggest cutting it square around the frames and filling it in with small scrap pieces.

Installed on cement basement floor for home exercise room. Looks great! Color is perfect. The installation took my husband and I approx. 5 hrs, cutting around the walls and a closet was the trickiest. We are very happy with the final look.

Oops is No Problem
5/5 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series
Carl W.Sisco from Lancaster
We had placed an order for tiles for our new home gym. When they arrived they accidentally sent their newest version Gatorade. We loved that mistake!Unfortunately we didn't calculate enough & had to order 30 more tiles. They were awesome and sent out the tiles ( even waved some of shipping). When the tile arrived it was the original color and didn't match at all. Luisa was so awesome! She sent our new tile and let us keep the 30 tiles as it was their oops. This company not only makes a great tile - they have integrity, great business practices and do it all in a friendly manner.

Very Impressive Flooring
5/5 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series
CM from Pearisburg, VA
I installed these tiles in a large room in my basement. The tiles are rather expensive but well worth the money. I was reluctant to spend the money for this type of flooring but I am glad I did. The quality is excellent. You really have to look very close to the floor to see the seams. Everyone that has seen the floor has not seen the seams unless I point them out. The installation was very easy. The floor is not cold like tile would have been. All in all we are very pleased with the product and service we got from Rubberflooring.inc. I would definitely recommend this type of flooring.

There is over 2000 square feet for kids to play on. It went down with ease with only a box knife and square. Customer support was very helpful in getting the floor on site in time.

Very easy to install and the delivery was as promised. The only drawback was that we have at least 12 tiles left over after the calculation of square footage.
