Turf rolls are very easy to clean and maintain. Maintenance for these interlocking tiles typically includes the following:
  • Periodic sweeping of loose dirt, dust, and debris may be necessary to keep the flooring surface clean.
  • For stains and blemishes, clean the rolls with a warm water solution of household detergent and water. Never use bleach.
  • For animal urine, use a mixture of white distilled vinegar in an equal amount of water. Make sure to flush thoroughly and vacuum any excess solution.
  • For chewing gum, the use of dry ice or refrigerant packets may be necessary to remove gum from flooring surface.
  • If your turf becomes matted, brushing of the surface may be needed to restore the aesthetic appearance. Always use a synthetic brush and never a metal or wire bristled brush when performing this task.

Installation of our Turf rolled flooring is very easy and typically done by our customer's. Below are instructions for both outdoor and indoor installation of our rolled flooring.

Synthetic Lawn Outdoor Installation
  • First you will want to remove all grasses, sods, mulches, etc. from the marked areas. Note: If you are landscaping around trees shrubbery, flowers, light poles, utilities, etc., remember to mark around those areas and account for the turf edge configuration. Remember to leave ample area uncovered around the bases of trees.
  • Next cap any sprinklers that will not be used. Cap the sprinklers at the pipe level to avoid any leakage that might occur. Relocate sprinklers if necessary. Make sure to mark the location of the un-used sprinklers. Move electrical sprinklers and wiring inward and away from any hardscape or perimeter from six-to-eight inches to avoid accidental damage when nailing turf edges. Once the wiring and other materials are moved, lay the items on top of the subgrade surfacing and secure them with U-shaped nails.
  • Install the base with a decomposed granite which is a special mixture of gravel and sand. This material allows the liquids from the turf to properly drain. For non-pet landscape installations, install DG three inches in depth. Properly distribute and level the base material.
  • Wet the existing base to allow the material to settle properly. Compact the base by vibrating, tamping and rolling the gravel until you have a completely flat surface. Once this solid base is established, the turf can be easily nailed to the base.
  • If using a turf pad, you will want to cut a hole in the base the size and depth of the pad that is being used.
  • Roll out weed cloth if applicable. This fabric prevents any additional plants and weeds from growing through the base of the synthetic grass. Overlap the weed cloth edges by six inches and secure it with as many flat-head nails as necessary. This helps to prevent movement of the cloth. Trim the cloth to fit the landscape area leaving a 1/4” gap along the border. Note: Do not drive nails too deeply as this will cause dimpling.
  • Before laying the turf down, be sure to find either a straight edge or two perpendicular edges for alignment. Square the turf to fit the area to minimize cutting and fitting on all four sides. Once the turf is square, secure the square edges with temporary nails to hold it in place while securing the opposite edges.
  • When fitting the turf, over- cut the turf by one inch along the edges for a proper fit. The excess turf will be necessary for the tucking process. When seaming turf edges together, use a seaming tool. Cut the turf in an S-shape to avoid the turf possibly pushing against each other's angles, which can create discoloration illusion in the seamed area. Install nails every six inches along the edge and drive them down three-quarters of the way. When finished, separate the grass to avoid pulling the blades down with the nail. The nail will be hidden with the grass blade at the base of the mat. Don't drive the nails down too deeply as it will pull the turf down and create dimples. Be sure to secure seams with six-inch U-nails every six inches. Make sure the U-nail is driven to the same level of the mat and hidden with the grass blades.
  • Note: When seaming the turf over a turf pad, you will want to use our turf seam tape or our turf seam tape & adhesive pack which features turf seam tape and a gallon adhesive bucket.
  • Tucking the turf means you will be hiding the turf edges against any hardscape or border by using a metal bar call a wonder bar. This will give your installation a clean plush look.
  • Use a power brush or heavy bristled brush to pull against the grain of the grass to make it stand up. Apply your infill or sand and spread the granules evening throughout the entire turf installation. The infill will hold the blades upright and give the turf more weight.
  • Brush up your turf once again with a power brush or bristled brush to force your infill into the base of the turf. This will allow the turf to settle and create optimal stability for your synthetic grass. Follow up the process to also remove excess debris.
Glue Down Indoor Installation
  • First you will want to make sure that your surface is level, clean and dry. Our turf flooring can be installed on concrete, dusting, powdering concrete, gypcrete , pressure treated decking, wood, or backer board.
  • Next you will want to dry lay your turf to implement roll sequencing to minimize normal variations. Manufacturing details will be back stamped on one side of the backing; this will assist in determining fiber direction.
  • If adding a turf pad, you would install this over the base with either double-sided tape or glue.
  • Apply adhesive or double-sided tape and then lay the turf.
  • Apply a bead of seam sealer to all seams.
  • Roll the product with a 75 lb. Weighted roller across the width and length of the product surface.
  • Once completed, the installation much remain in dry conditions for 72 hrs. in order for the adhesive to cure properly.

Can you install this on an outdoor concrete balcony?
Steve
You can install our Del Mar Turf Rolls on an outdoor concrete balcony. You wouldn't need to glue or tape this turf down, but if you would like some added stability, we recommend using our double-sided tape.
I know this isn't one of your gym floors, but can you play sports on this like soccer or field hockey? If you park a car on it, would it return to normal after removing the car?
You can play sports like soccer or field hockey on our Del Mar Turf Rolls, but we would not recommend it. These turf rolls are made for light to moderate traffic and not really for the high traffic that comes with sports. Like we said you could, but the rolls would not last very long. You can park a car on our Del Mar Turf Rolls without damaging if you were to drive normal over the turf. Simple pulling in and off the turf will not damage the turf. The blades will be bent after the car is removed and can be put back in their upright state by simpling brushing the turf.
How wide is the roll?
Our Del Mar Turf Rolls are 6.5' wide.
We have 3 labs, and an area of our yard is fenced. The grass inside the fence to say the least is pretty much gone. What would we have to do to the existing area before installing your turf and will it withstand dog traffic?
Michele
Our Del Mar Turf Rolls will be able to handle dog traffic and is very pet-friendly. The recommended way to prep your base is to add packed crushed granite to the surface to create a solid surface to install the turf on. You will also want to add a weed barrier over this to keep any pesky weeds from growing in your new turf. This will crushed granite layer will ensure your turf properly drains during rainstorms. The way some of our customers have gone is by just making sure their dirt is flat and free of any rocks or other debris and then adding a weed barrier under over that. For further information on how to install your turf and on proper base prep, please refer back to the installation tab on the product page or to our Artificial Grass Install Video.
Is your Del Mar Turf Rolls water permeable or will rain just stand on this and could this be used as an outside exercise area?
Roger C McMillion
Our Del Mar Turf Rolls have perforations which allow water to drain through the turf to the ground underneath. In extreme weather events like hurricanes, water could pool, but the turf will actually drain better than natural grass when installed over crushed granite. Our Del Mar Turf Rolls can be used for light use exercises. We don't recommend using a sled on this turf as the blade used to make this turf is softer to the touch and less durable than our standard gym turf products. Customers have used this turf for this use with success, but we don't recommend it.
Can any turf go on a wood deck?
Thomas Prescott
Our Del Mar Turf Rolls and any of our outdoor turf can be installed on a wood deck.
Can you install this right on top of dirt?
Yes, you can install the Del Mar Turf Rolls on dirt. Please make sure that the dirt is flat and free of any rocks or other debris and add a weed barrier under over that. You may use our Weed fabric for this purpose. For further information on how to install your turf and on proper base prep, please refer back to the installation tab on the product page or to our Artificial Grass Install Video.
What is the recommended depth of the crushed granite layer?
Kurt W Collins
Your crushed granite layer would typically be between 1-4 inches for turf installation.
I just bought an outdoor tent/gabezo, I'm exploring flooring options. Can i use this artificial turf over grass with a weed barrier. I'm mostly concerned with having to flatten the area I don't have the man power or money to pay someone to do. Area is fairly flat but not super duper flat. Also if it works out, I would probably do the rest of the back yard. I just want to put weed barrier down and then put the turf down. Is this feasible. Also how would I get leaves off. We get many leaves to rake in the fall??
Faye Harry
We don't recommend installing our Del Mar Turf Rolls over existing grass as the turf will not install properly. We recommend removing the existing grass and then following the proper installation instructions. We recommend using a base of crushed granite, but if you have soil that is compacted, you could install over that. You could simply use a turf rake to remove the leaves.
I would like to install this on a concrete patio. However a small section has molded which we power-washed off. How will that scenario (possible mold) affect the Del Mar Turf Rolls? Can mold accumulate under this turf?
Nancy
Mold can accumulate under turf if it is installed in a place (especially concrete) where water won't be able to drain under the ground. However, mold can be easily cleaned using household bleach.
Can I cover my hardwood flooring with this?
Yes, you may, as long as your hardwood flooring is indoors, which we think it must be. However, please note that this turf is porous, so if water is spilled on the turf, it will pass onto the hardwood floor underneath. When used indoors, it is ideal to install these without glue, so you may either loose lay them or use a double-sided tape along the perimeter to hold the turf in place.
For a dog run I am interested in your Del Mar Turf roll, but do you ship to Canada ?
roland chaudat
We only ship within the US, but you may use a freight forwarder to transport the product from the USA to Canada.
I am looking for a temporary solution until grass can be replanted in the spring. Can we lay the turf on top of the existing muddy grass?
Lee Schomer
Yes, this turf can be laid on top of grass. However, you may want to use a weed fabric underneath to prevent grass/weeds from growing into the turf.
I want to put this on a flat roof with a burned down roof. Can I use it on this type of flat roof? How thick is the rubber backing?
Chris
You can install our Del Mar Turf Rolls on a flat rooftop. To install these turf rolls on a roof, we recommend using some double-sided tape or Velcro under the turf to hold it down. This will also make sure that you don't damage the roof and also will also you to pull it up if need be when not in use. Our Del Mar Turf Rolls don't have a rubber backing, they have an Action Back.
Can I pick up my order?
Michael Terry
If you are located in the Phoenix or Nashville area, you can pick up your orders at our local DCs in these areas. To set this up, all you would need to do is contact one of our Flooring Heroes via phone, chat, or email, and they can set you up for a pick-up order.
What grass do you have that I can install outside as a pet/turf that doesn't require infill?
Robert
Technically, you install any of our turfs without Infill, but if the turf has a high pile height, it may not look realistic since the fibers will not have the infill to support them. With that said, you can install our Del Mar Turf Rolls without infill. We don't recommend it, but you definitely can, and we have had many customers do that. We do offer a number of gym-type turfs that don't require infill, but not all of them are pet paw-friendly. One product that we would recommend would be our Performance Turf Rolls without the padding. This product doesn't need infill and can be used as turf for pets.
Can this be installed on a 3/4" outdoor plywood?
Tom mancini
Our Del Mar Turf Rolls can be installed over any hard flat surface, so these artificial grass rolls can be installed over 3/4" outdoor plywood.
What is the length and width of the roll and thickness? Does it come in squares? This is for 100% outdoors on a dock
Brian finucane
Our Del Mar Turf Rolls are 6.5 feet wide. The length is cut to order. Simply click "Custom Roll Length" and type in your desired length. This product is designed for outdoor use and is approximately 1-3/8" thick. For delivery, it will be rolled up.

I have attached photos of our Beach Life Fitness Boutique Studio in Redondo Beach CA We used the flooring to create a welcome area for our clients in front of the studio. It was just a parking lot, so we really love the way it looks now with the grass.

So far we are loving the turf. Installation was easy and it was awesome to be able to enjoy it right away. The only issue I have found up to this point is that it gets hot on my feet under direct sun light, but because it’s so durable I can put an umbrella right on it. I’m very satisfied with the product I purchased and recommend it to anyone looking for clean, comfortable lawn with no maintenance!

I shopped around a while until finding this turf roll that both me, my husband and our little Zoe liked. We are covering up our small patchy 'backyard' and bringing new life to our outdoor zone. Our landlord is even giving us a sweet deal on rent since we did it all ourselves and she'll have it long after we are gone. It's been a positive experience with turf so far, and I think we will go this route as well when we buy our forever home.
