Luxury Vinyl tiles and planks are easy to keep clean and maintain. Maintenance of the floor typically includes:
  • Always use plywood or other boards when moving heavy objects across the floor to avoid scratching of the floor surface.
  • Use felt pads under chair and furniture legs to prevent scratching of the floor surface.
  • Place walk off door mats at all entrances and doorways to collect debris from shoes such as dirt, rocks, and moisture, from being tracked in and onto your new floors.
  • Avoid using rubber backed area rugs or floor mats as they can stain the flooring surface over time.
  • Use non-staining floor protectors underneath heavy furniture, chairs, and tables.
  • Daily or weekly vacuuming or dust mopping to remove dirt, grit, dust etc. Do not use treated dust mops.
  • When mopping, use a damp and never a wet mop.
  • Clean up spill immediately to prevent damage to the floor.

Installation is simple, and is commonly done by our customers. Installation of planks and tiles is as follows:
  • Complete any necessary floor prep.
  • Start with the tongue side facing the wall.
  • After the initial starter board, press the end seam of the second plank into the end seam of the first plank, and then lock them together by laying the plank down. Continue working left to right.
  • Install the first plank in the second row by inserting the tongue into the groove of the plank in the first row. This is best done with a low angle of the plank.
  • Insert the long side seam at a slight angle first. As the top surfaces meet, rotate the plank down into the locked position. Engage the end seam, using a rubber mallet if necessary.
  • Planks may be cut with a utility knife using the “score and snap” technique, or with the use of a crosscut power saw.
  • Continue installing planks removing any gaps using a tapping block and a scrap of flooring to cover the tapping block. Be careful not to damage In*Step tongue and groove.
  • Protect all exposed edges by installing wall moulding and/or transition strips. Make sure that no plank will be secured in any way to the subfloor.

Are the planks glossy? Does it have a shine?
Anonymous
They are not finished with a glossy surface.
Can this be used in a home that is not climate controlled all year round?
Anonymous
COREtec Plus is stable between 32 and 140 degrees. You can glue down the COREtec Plus if the temperatures are going to be below the 32 mark.
Can you install cabinets, island, appliances on top of this floor?
Anonymous
Yes you can, it is recommended that you glue those areas down.
Do you need a moisture barrier under this product?
Anonymous
As an extra precaution, we recommend 6mm plastic. However, if you choose not to use a moisture barrier, with will not void your warranty.
How often does the pattern repeat?
COREtec One has a pattern repeat of 6 planks.
Would you recommend installing this product over a concrete-floor car garage (that does not ever get below 32 degrees due to the full garage door) where a car will roll over it and then rest on it every night?
Leon DeDonder
The manufacturer does not intend the floor planks for this type of use.
I have hair spray mist on my floor how can I clean it? Is there something I can use on my floor to give it a shine
Regina R Dennis
Please see the maintenance instructions PDF for detailed cleaning instructions. Avoid using mop and shine products on your resilient flooring.
My basement has flooded in the past. Is the Cortec one waterproof vinyl plank something I could install with the possibility that you could flood again? Or, is there another flooring option that you would recommend?
The Coretec One is a very durable product and is 100% waterproof. If a flood does occur you are able to pull the planks to allow the subfloor dry completely and reinstall. You will want to pull the floor up to no let mold build-up under if flooding does happen again.
Is this flooring suitable for gym equipment (treadmill and eliptical machines)
Sue
You can, if you have legs or wheels under either of the machines we would recommend using appropriate furniture pads or placers to disperse some of the weight out.
Does the Coretec One plank require a subfloor or plastic underneath? the coretec plus has the cork underlay attached, but since this one does not, what type can be used? thank you
Anonymous
If you are installing over concrete, you should definitely consider adding a moisture barrier. Cork underlayment is a great addition as well to the COREtec One.
We have a theee season porch with low e glass and fully closable during inclement weather. It has a very thick cement floor that has been epoxied. Can we use the Core-Tex in this situation and with the epoxy finish do we need a vapor barrier?
Dale
COREtec One may be installed in a three season room; however, if the temperatures drop below 32 or go above 140 due to direct sunlight, the floor may not perform well.

Installed in Dining area
Ross from Santa Barbara, CA wrote...
Had approximately 240 sq.ft. of Peruvian Walnut product professionally installed in our dining area. Looks very nice (actually looks more like a medium light oak rather than a typically darker walnut) Total installation time, including removal of existing carpet and surface prep. and final clean-up, was about 6.5-7 hrs. The product has a bit more texture to it than I had expected from the showroom samples, but it is very nice and not slippery to the barefoot. The installation was a bit more pricey than it should have been, but anyone fit enough and with some shop tool expertise should be able to do a creditable install by oneself.

  Kitchen project

Here is a picture of our kitchen project with Core Tec Doral Walnut vinyl. I previously submitted a review but we are very pleased with the flooring, ease of installation and your customer service. Our daughter liked our floor so much that she has ordered the flooring for her home as well. My only negative about this flooring is that it isn't scratch proof. Thank you, Claudia
