3/8" Equipment Mats are easy to clean and maintain. Maintenance of these vulcanized rubber flooring mats typically includes:
  • Vacuuming any loose dust, dirt, or debris from the rubber surface when necessary.
  • Occasional damp mopping of the rubber mats with a mild soap and water mixture. Some soaps commonly used include Dawn dish detergent and/or Tide laundry detergent.
Note: Do not use any solvent or oil style cleaners such as Pinesol, Lysol, Murphy’s Oil Soap, WD40, paint thinner, etc. since these types of cleaners will break down the flooring over time.

Can this mat be used on Pergo flooring under a treadmill?
Jill
These mats will work great as a treadmill mat over your Pergo flooring.
Can these mats be used over a low pile carpet? And will the black rub off onto the carpet?
CHERYL FERRARA
Our 3/8" Equipment Mats can be used over any pile carpet. If your carpet is a light-colored carpet, there is potential for some staining. What we suggest is using a plastic sheet between the rubber mat and the carpet to prevent this.
Is this mat safe to use on luxury vinyl plank flooring? I've heard rubber backing can damage these type floors.
April Owens
Over modern luxury vinyl planks, our 3/8" Equipment Mats will not stain the flooring. What we recommend for when using our rubber over these types of floors is to add a sheet of plastic between the vinyl and rubber to ensure not staining occurs.
Do the 3/8" Equipment Mats have an odor?
Our 3/8" Equipment Mats do have a slight rubber odor to them. If you are sensitive to odors, we recommend mopping the flooring with a mild soap and water solution. You will then want to place these mats in a well-ventilated area and let them air dry. You may have to repeat this step a few times to get the smell to dissipate.
Will the 3/8" Equipment Mat absorb sweat, or will it bead up so it can be wiped clean?
Our 3/8" Equipment Mats are non-porous and will not absorb sweat. The sweat will pool on the surface of the mats and can be easily cleaned with a mild soap and water solution. You can also use our Gym Cleaner / Disinfectant to disinfect your mat and keep your space smelling great properly.
Some of the questions indicate plastic is needed under the mat to prevent staining over carpeting, hardwood, or both? Won't the rubber mat slide on the plastic?
Todd S
The 3/8" Equipment Mats won't slip when placed over the plastic sheeting. These rubber mats are very heavy and will stay in place. During certain exercises, there is a potential for the mat to move more easily, but this is a very rare occurrence.
What type of plastic sheet do you recommend? Where would I buy?
Todd
If you want to place a plastic sheet under our 3/8" Equipment Mats, you can use virtually any type you would like. You can find plastic floor protectors at any local hardware store.
What is the mat made of?
Mary Vogel
Our 3/8" Equipment Mats are made with rubber.
Can the rubber mat be used for an exercise bike on hardwood floors without damaging the floor?
david
Our 3/8" Equipment Mats won't stain hardwood flooring. If you are concerned about it staining or damaging your hardwood flooring, we recommend placing a plastic sheet under the mat and the wood flooring.
How much does the 3/8" x 3' x 6' mat weigh? Can it be rolled up for storage purposes?
Ed
Our 3' x 6' Equipment Mat weighs approximately 36 pounds. These mats can be rolled up and stored. Since they are vulcanized, they are a little tougher to roll up, but it can be done. You will want to make sure you have a good strap to place around it to keep it in the rolled-up form when stored.
How difficult is it to cut to fit a smaller area?
Fredericka Blumenfeld
Since our 3/8" Equipment Mats are vulcanized, they are a little more difficult to cut compared to our non-vulcanized mats. You can still cut them pretty easily with a sharp utility knife and a straight edge, but you will just have to do a few more passes to cut all the way through. The steps to cutting the mat are to measure twice before starting your initial cut. The first cut will be more of a score than a true cut to get the blade line set into the material. Once you have scored the mat, you will then want to make a few more cut passes until you are all the way through the mat. Typically after the initial score cut, it takes about two to three passes to cut through these mats.
My treadmill is 3'x6', with the actual footprint on the floor being smaller. Why do you suggest a longer mat than the treadmill footprint? You suggest 3'x7' or 3'x8'.
Michelle
Our size recommendations are based on typical sizes for fitness equipment. If your piece of equipment is smaller, you can go with smaller Equipment Mat.
What do you mean by a "2 - piece" mat?
Robert Johan
When we say that a mat is a 2-piece mat in our 3/8" Equipment Mats, we are stating that the mat is not one single piece but is made of two smaller mats that are interlocked together.
Are these or any of your mats waterproof?
Kathy a Baker
Our 3/8 Equipment Mats are considered water-resistant, not waterproof. The mats are vulcanized mats and will don't collect any water. They are mold and mildew resistant and are very easy to clean and maintain.
The measurement of 3 feet width, is that from the literal edge to edge or is it on the 'flat' before the bevels?
Mike
The width of our 3/8" Equipment Mats are from bevel to bevel.
I need a mat to put underneath a Stott Pilates Reformer to keep it from sliding during exercise especially using a jump board attachment. Will this work?
Deborah Norkin
Our 3/8" Equipment Mats are very slip-resistant and heavy, so they should not slide when using your Stott Pilates Reformer. If for some reason, it did, you can always add some double-sided tape under the mat.
How tacky is the surface? I'm looking for a surface that will help hold a rowing machine in place as it has a tendency to "jump" when going at full strength. Also does the surface have any 'give' or is it basically firm?
Evan
Our 3/8" Equipment Mats have a textured surface, so it will help to keep your rower in place. Since these mats are vulcanized, they don't have much give. They are pretty firm compared to our non-vulcanized mats.
Can the mat be used outdoors? I plan to use under my Schwinn Airdyne and under a covered walkway.
Charles Coachman
Our 3/8" Equipment Mats can be used outdoors. These vulcanized mats are very slip-resistant and more so when wet. They are mold and mildew resistant and are resistant to the elements. The only thing you will notice is that they will fade in direct sunlight over time. These mats are not UV stable.
Does the 3/8" equipment mats come beveled or raw-edged? Also, it sounds like the treadmill size comes in two pieces, is that right? What about the middle-sized one? Thank you.
Christine
The 3/8" Equipment Mats are beveled. Since our 3/8" Equipment Mats are vulcanized, they are a little more difficult to cut compared to our non-vulcanized mats. You can still cut them pretty easily with a sharp utility knife and a straight edge, but you will just have to do a few more passes to cut all the way through.
Does this treadmill mat help with vibration and sound for a second-floor apartment going on hardwood floors? Currently, my 1/8” treadmill mat does not dampen noise well enough, and I need something to kill that noise for my downstairs neighbors.
Laura
Our 3/8" Equipment Mats will help dampen the noise and vibration that occurs when a treadmill runs on a second floor.

No surprises. Product seems well designed and constructed. Minimal odor. Using underneath treadmill , bike trainer, and row machine, and all working well with no slippage. Two pieces connect well, flush with minimal seam.

EXCELLENT QUALITY MAT FOR THE MONEY

I had a softer foam mat under my Lifecycle C3 upright bike for a few years, but it was never what I had hoped for. The bike sank into the mat and still left dents in the carpet beneath. I finally looked for something better and came across this mat. It is much more solid and of much higher quality, yet wasn't more expensive. I sure wish I had found this one before I ever used the other one.

This is a solid product not like the thin cheaper mats that other companies sell.
