I'm planning to do some flooring in my apartment garage. I will be using it for my garage band instruments and the gym (personal). Would these be suitable? How do I clean the mat? Can I re-use these when I move out to a different apartment? Thanks.
frank
For personal gym use, we typically recommend at least 1/4" thickness to help with shock absorption. Rubber rolls can be cleaned using a vacuum and occasional damp mopping. If you are going to park a car on it you may not be able to reuse as any liquids that may drip out of cars can deteriorate the rubber over time.

Has anyone use it on stairs or is it just for floors.
Dave
Our 5mm Rubber Rolls have been used flooring on stairs. This roll is perfect for this application because it is thinner allowing the roll to contour to the steps. This rubber roll is also great in high traffic areas and is slip resistant when dry or wet.
Would this material be appropriate for stairs?
Lou
Our 5mm Rubber Rolls would work perfectly as flooring on stairs. These rolls are thin enough to be manipulated to fit on the stairs and are slip resistant in both wet and dry environments. These rubber rolls are very durable and would hold up well even in high traffic situations.
I am putting in a 30' x 24' basketball court over a leveled, compacted crushed limestome base. I would like to use a 5mm rubber roll over the limestone and under the court tiles to prevent weed growth and to prevent mud coming up through the court tiles if it rains. Would the 5mm rubber roll work for this application?
John
Our 5mm Rubber Rolls would work great as a weed barrier under your court tiles and would also work as an underlayment under your court. This rubber will help to add shock absorption and comfort under foot.
Is this material suitable for use on a boat floor?
Gary
Our 5mm Rubber Rolls can be used as flooring in a boat. Rubber is very slip resistant and is more slip resistant when wet. Rubber is also naturally mold and mildew resistant. Our 5mm Rubber Rolls are very easy to clean. Simply sweep out any large dirt and debris and mop and stuck on dirt and debris.
I'm looking for a gym floor for aerobic/rehab use. Can this type of flooring be installed over a carpet pad to give it a softer feel? I'd like the rubber top surface but with more impact absorption for something like P90X Insanity type jumping.
David
We don't recommend installing our 5mm Rubber Rolls over a carpet pad because there will be separation between rolls as the bad underneath depresses. To add further cushion to our rubber flooring, we recommend using our rubber underlayment. This will give you the added comfort and shock absorption you are looking for but will also be sturdy enough not to create a tripping hazard while in use.
I'm wanting to install this in my garage. Will I still be able to park my vehicle on it or will I need to only install this on the side where my gym equipment is at.
Ryan
You can park your car on our 5mm Rubber Rolls. The only thing that you will have to watch out for is if oil were to come in contact with our rubber flooring that over time, the roll may start to break down. Other than that, this rubber roll will work for this application.

Our 5mm Rubber Rolls are durable enough to be used outdoors. These rubber rolls are very easy to clean and maintain and are mold and mildew resistant. The only thing you will notice is that in direct sunlight, the rubber may fade a bit. You can shovel snow off of our rubber rolls. We recommend using a plastic shovel when doing it.

Our 5mm Rubber Rolls are not waterproof. They are somewhat porous but will not allow water to flow through the flooring. To make our 5mm Rubber Rolls truly water-resistant, we recommend using our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer on the surface of the flooring and our Seam Sealer glue at the seams.
Can I use the rubber flooring on a swim raft that sits in the water all summer? Also, can it be cut to 8-foot lengths?
DC
You can use our 5mm Rubber Rolls on a swim raft that sits in the water all summer. Our rubber rolls are water resistant and are mold and mildew resistant. These rolls are also very slip-resistant, even when wet. We currently don't cut our rubber rolls to 8', but you can easily cut our rubber rolls to size with a sharp utility knife and a straight edge.
Can I install this on top of the Lawn Pads instead of Turf, for a soft, protected playing area?
You can install our 5mm Rubber Roll over our Lawn Pads to create a soft, protected playing area. These rolls are very slip resistant even when wet and are very easy to clean and maintain. They are not UV stable, so they will fade in direct sunlight. Since these rolls are made of rubber, they are also mold-and-mildew resistant and with the aide of the Lawn Pads, will help to deaden a child's fall while at play.
If this is used indoor for a doggy playroom, does it need to be sealed?
When using our 5mm Rubber Rolls in a doggy playroom or daycare, we would recommend sealing the floor with our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer. This will ensure that any urine and other liquids don't get in or through the floor. Our rubber rolls are semi-porous and typically will not typically allow liquids to get in or through the floor for some time, but if an accident were to sit for too long, it could start to work its way in and through the floor. Once dried, the salts from urine and other liquids can be hard to remove from the floor.
I work for School system I have a Elevated band room with four step levels. The room is 52' by 44' what thickness of rubber flooring would you recommend? Also, do you have to seam it, and do you glue it down or float it? I am talking about a lot of high school students.
Victor Bell
You can use our 5mm Rubber Rolls as a flooring for a band room that has several levels. Our rubber rolls are very easy to clean and maintain and are very slip resistant even when wet. Also, rubber flooring is sound absorbing, so the acoustics of the room will be similar to what you would have with a carpeted floor. There would be seams throughout the floor as our rubber rolls are only 4' wide. For a commercial environment with a lot of foot traffic, we would recommend gluing it down, especially on the stairs.

Ross

Betty Moffitt
You can use our 5mm Rubber Rolls as flooring in a kitchen. These rubber rolls are very slip resistant and are mold and mildew resistant. Is this rubber flooring anti-microbial? Could you use it over wood in an animal shelter for easier clean-up? Waterproof?
Our 5mm Rubber Rolls and all of our rubber flooring is naturally mold and mildew resistant and is anti-microbial. You can install our rubber flooring over any hard flat surfaces like wood, concrete, or asphalt, and these rubber rolls are very easy to clean and maintain. Our rubber flooring is not waterproof but is water-resistant. These rolls are semi-porous, but the pores do not go all the way through the floor. If any urine or liquid were to fall on the floor and were to dry, the salts from the liquid would just get caught in the pores of the flooring. If you wanted to seal the flooring, we recommend using our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer. This will fill in the pores that are found on the floor. At the seams, we recommend using our Seam Sealer glue. This will help to create a watertight surface.
We have a home gym with no free weights. Can the 5mm rubber flooring be installed over newly installed vinyl plank flooring without any negative effects to the vinyl flooring?

Hi, I run a small gourmet mushroom farm in Louisiana. We are upgrading our farm by adding a few shipping containers as fruiting rooms. These containers already have a wood floor, but as the floors will constantly be getting wet, I need some sort of waterproof flooring to go over them. I am wondering if this product has a smooth flat surface. I need something I can easily squeegee water puddles off of. If this product does not have a smooth surface, can you please recommend one that will?
Kiefer
Our 5mm Rubber Rolls have a smooth, flat surface. These rubber rolls would work perfectly for this type of application as rubber is very slip-resistant and even more so when wet. These rolls are mold and mildew resistant and are very easy to clean and maintain. The rolls are somewhat porous, so to fill in these pores, we recommend using our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer. This will help to keep any dirt and debris from getting in the pores in the flooring and make the flooring more water-resistant.
Can the 5 MM or 3/16 rubber products be used in a garage with cars parking on the surface?
Bud Equi
Our 5mm Rubber Rolls are pretty thin, so if you wanted to use them as flooring in a garage, we recommend gluing the rolls down, so they don't come up when driving in and out of your garage or when turning your wheel. Since most cars don't typically leak oil, this will not be an issue for most customers, but if your car were to lead oil, we would recommend placing one of our Nitro Rolls under your car or one of AutoFloorGuard's containment mats. If oil were to get on your rubber, over time the rubber will start to breakdown.
Are these rubber rolls UV rated?
Our 5mm Rubber Rolls are UV-stable, meaning they will fade in direct sunlight. They can be used outdoors are great as flooring in walkways, patios, and anywhere a durable, slip-resistant floor is needed.

I have a raised deck over a patio area underneath and would like to use rubber flooring on the deck so rain won’t drip down on the patio; suggested materials and installation?
Jeff

Is there an odor with the rubber rolls, and how long does it take to disappear?
Lrose
Our 5mm Rubber Rolls do have an odor when you first install them. To help mitigate this odor, we recommend mopping the floor with a mild soap and water solution. Make sure the space where the flooring will be installed has ample ventilation. You will then let the flooring air dry. Depending on how sensitive you are to smells, you may have to repeat these steps a few times to mitigate the smell truly.
