Description - Our Evolution rubber tiles are by far our most versatile rubber tiles blending together the durability of our standard rubber tiles with the warmth and comfort of our anti-fatigue mats. These interlocking tiles are a solid tile, meaning they will not let water penetrate to the subfloor, making them perfect for dog kennels and doggie daycares. These gym tiles also feature a multi-nib backing which aides in reducing foot fatigue and impact from high impact exercises making them perfect for plyometric, P90X, and Insanity workouts. Since these gym mats are thicker than most of our rubber tiles, they do come with the option to add ramp edges to reduce the tripping hazard that is inherent with these tiles and are backed by a 5 year warranty. These rubber gym tiles also feature a hidden interlock system making them virtually seamless and are accented by faux grout lines for aesthetic appeal.
Note: Due to each tile being totally black, scuff marks, scratches and foot prints will be very apparent. To help alleviate this issue, we recommend cleaning these tiles on a regular basis with a mild soap and water solution or our Rubber Floor Cleaner and Degreaser.
Material – Composed of natural rubber.
Size – 36” x 36”
Thickness – 5/8"
Weight – Each Evolution tile weighs approximately 20 Lbs.
Recommended Uses – Evolution rubber tiles are the perfect flooring for home gyms, workout rooms, offices, dog kennels, doggie daycares, light duty commercial gyms, basements, rec rooms, playrooms and much more. These tiles can also be used as mats under treadmills, stationary bikes, and weight equipment or anywhere else a durable, shock absorbing rubber flooring surface would be useful.

  • Evolution rubber tiles are in stock and ready to ship.
  • Evolution interlocking tiles typically ship within 1-2 business days and deliver within 3-7 business days depending on your location.
  • An email is automatically sent to you with your tracking information as soon as your floor tiles ship and tracking information becomes available.

Evolution rubber tiles are extremely durable and easy to maintain. Maintenance of these interlocking tiles typically includes:
  • Vacuuming any loose crumbs, dust, or debris from the flooring surface when necessary.
  • Occasional damp mopping of the rubber tiles with a mild soap and water solution. A few recommended soaps are Dawn dish detergent or Tide laundry detergent.
  • For stubborn stains and marks, scrubbing of the floor may be necessary. Floor scrubbing brushes with plastic bristles provide the best results.
Note: Do not use any solvent or oil style cleaners such as Pinesol, Lysol, Murphy’s Oil Soap, WD40, paint thinner, etc. since these types of cleaners will break down the flooring over time.

Installation of interlocking tiles is very simple and typically done by the consumer. Typical installation of these tiles is as follows:
  • First, clean your sub floor so it is free of all dirt, grease or debris.
  • Snap a chalk line on the sub floor 24” from one wall in your room. Snap another chalk line on the subfloor 24” from an adjacent wall. You should now have a pair of perpendicular lines making an approximate 90-degree angle.
  • Begin laying the interlocking tiles along the chalk lines, snapping the locks together as you go.
  • Leave the perimeter of the room open until the field is installed.
  • After the field is covered, go back and cut in lines along the walls in the room. Leaving a gap at the wall roughly the thickness of tiles being used is recommended to account for expansion and contraction of the floor tiles in varied temperature ranges.
Note: When piecing interlocking tiles together, adhesives are usually not used since the weight of the locked together product is usually enough to keep the floor tiles from moving. However, if you do experience movement and would like to ensure that the tiles do not slide at all, some double-sided tape or mat tape can be used around the perimeter of the installation to prevent any movement.

So far all is good with the rubber tiles. We really struggled going back and forth with the tiles or a rubber mat. I think we made the right choice but the cost of shipping these is ridiculous! These better last forever otherwise we made the wrong choice. Rubber smell is not that bad and does slowly go away over time. Not to hard to install but our area is only roughly 6'x9'

We put this in our home gym and it went together in an afternoon with a little water on the nubbins and a deadblow hammer. The rubber smell is quite strong at first, but quickly subsides in a month or so... if you could air it out for a while in the garage that might help. Otherwise we are very happy with it.

I purchased a few pieces of your rubber flooring and had a wonderful conversation with the customer service lady who was extremely helpful with my order. I explained to her my plans for your materials and she asked me to send some photos of the final project once everything was setup. Thank you for your help, your great customer service and creating such a nice quality.

Weight Lifting Flooring
4/5 Evolution Rubber Tiles
Anonymous from Columbus, OH

I used these tiles for gym flooring. This area is primarily used for weight lifting. The product has excellent impact resistance. It takes the impact of 80lb dumbbells without damaging the subfloor. The surface has good traction and is cosmetically equivalent to commercial gym floors. The installation was simple. Per the other reviews, I did lubricate the joints with water during installation. I have no ripples or raised sections. I did have one tile with a cosmetic imperfection. Their customer service was excellent and it was replaced immediately (via FedEx). The tiles are made from recycled tires. As you would expect, the area is going to smell like a tire store for a week or two. There is no smell after that timeframe. The only reason I did not give the product 5 stars was the pricing for the perimeter sections. Not worth the investment in my opinion. I trimmed off the connecting pieces at the edge lines to get the same look. It did take longer to do that, but it looks good at the floor/wall interface.

So I was the 1-star review that had a really hard time installing the tiles. The soap and water trick is a miracle. I wish I thought of that earlier!!! I relaid all of the tiles using this method and was able to install 48 tiles in about 2 hours. Thanks for the tip. Rubber flooring Inc should include that in their installation instructions. Thanks again!

I have been impressed by your service as well as the product and pricing. The evolution tile is a quality product. Install was made easier with a soapy water solution to apply to the interlocking joints.

Product Good, but Strong odor and shipping problem
4/5 Evolution Rubber Tiles
james from Atlanta, GA

I chose this product based on this quote from Rubber Flooring Customer Service "That is actually a low odor product since it is made of Natural Rubber" and when I called they represented that "we put it in our small room here and even on the first day we could not smell it". Based on that advice I did not leave it outside or in a garage before installing in the basement as I thought any smell would be gone in a few days at the most. That is a big mistake. My entire basement outside of the Gym room was overwhelmed with a rubber smell. I am not sure this is natural rubber. I had to open outside doors in cold weather. With the right advice, I would have left this in my garage to breathe for 6-8 weeks. I am now 8 weeks in, and the room still smells like rubber, but not the whole basement. I believe if it was in an open location first I would have been fine much sooner. Once it is installed, it is too much work to pull it back up and set it outside (300lbs all cut to the right corners). The customer service group cannot give shipping updates accurately. I ordered based on a specific delivery window (1 week) b/c I was headed out of town. I was assured that was no problem. They delayed the shipment b/c end pieces were on back-order and then promised not to ship it out while I was away. However, they simply emailed the warehouse who did not make a note of the advice, so it arrived during vacation. I had to have someone pick it up; note this is 300lbs of flooring sitting on the curb outside. Customer Service said 'we can't control FedEx' but the issue was that it even left the Warehouse both behind the promised schedule and then ahead of the promised delay. I am disappointed with the advice on the smell and the shipping, but I rated 4 stars as it is a solid but forgiving flooring that works great for crossfit. I lift barefoot and it is a little rough to jump on, but not too bad. The smell will probably be gone soon as I have 4 plants down there and an air purifier trying to clean out the off gassing.

Installation trick
4/5 Evolution Rubber Tiles
Jeremiah from Columbus Ohio

As in some of the other reviews, at first, installation by a paid contractor was going terribly. Then he had an idea to get a spray bottle of water and spray the pieces that snap together. After that installation was much much much better. Our 20 x 13 room went from probably a 2 day install to half a day.

Extremely difficult to install
1/5 Evolution Rubber Tiles

The tiles themselves are great as they are strong but have a lot of flex to them. Very easy on the knees during workouts. However, these tiles are next to impossible to "snap" together. The rubber male and female pieces do not snap together easily, nor do they always line up correctly. I had to stretch the material a lot to get every little "nub" to snap into place. I have a 385 square foot room, which called for 48 tiles, and it took approximately 50 hours to get the tiles down, and it's still not perfect. I have lots of lumps due to the little nubs not lining up or snapping down correctly. I am considering scrapping the tiles and ordering rolls as i think the look will be better.
