Rubber Cork rolls are easy to clean. Maintenance of these cork rubber rolls typically includes:
  • Vacuuming any loose dust, dirt, or debris from the flooring surface when necessary.
  • Occasional damp mopping of the rolls with a mild soap and water mixture. Some soaps commonly used include Dawn dish detergent and/or Tide laundry detergent.
Note: Do not use any solvent or oil style cleaners such as Pinesol, Lysol, Murphy’s Oil Soap, WD40, paint thinner, etc. since these types of cleaners will break down the flooring over time.

When installing rolled rubber flooring, it is recommended that you use some kind of adhesive to prevent the rolls from moving around or sliding apart between adjacent rolls. The most common methods of adhering rubber rolls to the sub floor are:

A: Double Sided Tape Installation
  • First you will want to clean your sub floor so that it is free of all dust, dirt, and debris.
  • Loose lay your rolls in the room as you would like them to look after a complete installation. Let the rolls relax for up to 24-48 hours to ensure proper installation of your new flooring.
  • Note: Rolls may be directional so make sure the color matches on each roll. If the roll colors do not match, flip them or turn them 180 degrees to ensure color matches.
  • Make any necessary cuts to the rolls to fit them into the room using a Straight Edge and a Utility Knife with a fresh blade. We recommend leaving a gap around the rolls roughly the thickness of the rolls being used to account for expansion and contraction.
  • Apply double sided tape to perimeter of each roll.
  • Place rubber rolls back into position on top of the double sided tape.

  • B: Glue Installation
    • First clean your sub floor so that it is free of all dirt, dust and debris. Also, when gluing your flooring down, it is recommended that the sub floor is free of any moisture.
    • Roll up the rolls at one end of the room. Put down a 10 foot long light layer of polyurethane adhesive and unroll 10 of the flooring into the adhesive at a time.
    • Repeat this step for every 10 feet of roll length until the entire roll has been unrolled into it desired position.
    • After all rolls have been glued down, it is often recommended to use a 100 pound roller on the floor in order to guarantee good adherence to the sub floor. If a roller is not available, walking on the flooring in small choppy steps may also work.

    Q:

Hello, I work for a local tv station, and we need to cover up a floor decal on our set to make it look different for another show we tape out of the same studio (and do this on a weekly basis, so we are not looking for a "permanent" floor.) Would any of your floors be a good solution... we would need to make sure that it would be durable enough for wheelchairs to be rolled onto it. Also, would the flooring damage the floor decals? And would any of the flooring roll out flat, meaning the corners and end won't be sticking up?

    A:

Our 8mm Cork Rubber Rolls can be used to cover up a floor decal and will not damage the decals when rolled over them. These rolls are dense and can handle wheelchair and other rolling objects on them. When you receive your flooring you will want to acclimate the rolls to the room and then unroll them. After sometime, the edge of the rolls will relax and lay flat. But if they do not, you can always put heavy objects on the edges for some time and they will lay flat.

    Q:

I'm looking for a flooring that would go in a classroom. Would this floor or any flooring you have work well in a classroom with desks and chair sliding around and lots of foot traffic?

    A:

Our 8mm Cork Rubber Rolls would work great as flooring in a classroom. This flooring is very durable and would be able to withstand chairs and desks sliding over it and heavy foot traffic.
