  Perfect for a playroom.
Self-installed in basement
Holly from Cincinnati, Ohio wrote...
My husband and I wanted to convert our old ugly basement into a playroom and I looked into getting regular color foam tiles. Thank god I found these. They are so nice looking that when people came over for his birthday party I had many folks say they didn't know they were foam until they stepped down off the steps to the floor. Little bit more expensive than the color tiles, but so worth it. It brightens up the room but still keeps the tone of the room pleasing for adults. My kid has even fallen from his play table (he loves to climb) onto the floor and besides being scared, he wasn't hurt. No bruises on this kid for a week so far! We've gotten complements galore on them. I'm glad I spent the extra money and went with these tiles. They were easy to cut and put in. We had to make quite a few cuts due to the room not being square and lots of doorways etc. It took us four hours total to install about 300 square feet. The center ones without cuts went down in like 15 minutes total.

My husband is in the military and we have horrible flooring in our on Post housing. We also have a 10 month old that we would love to keep his skull intact. All my neighbors are jealous, I have become the play date go to house! Thank you so much, what a difference this has made. The before and after is astounding!

Easy to install and looks great

I installed the Dark Oak tile in the family room in our basement. Overall, it was fairly easy to install, it took some time to figure out the best way to cut the tile for doorways and the landing for the stairs. I really like the way it looks. I just hope it stands up to daily kid traffic. I noticed while kneeling on it during install that the dips made by my knees didn't pop back very quickly. It took a few minutes especially at a seam. I'm worried about putting furniture on it. We are planning to put a train table on the floor, but I think I will be getting some furniture sliders first. I did part of the room, so I have a seam in the middle of the room that will probably require some kind of transition to be installed over it. I installed about 120 square feet and the whole thing took about an hour and a half.

  needs better edge
Self-installed in trade shows.
Diane from Novi, MI wrote...
I have used these tiles for years. The thing that is really needed is a sloping edge. When used and trade shows the flat edges can be a tripping hazard. Please consider offering a sloping/slanted edge. I would offer as a separate purchase to up-grade to. Offer them by the piece or bundled for 10 x 10 foot space minimum. I have sent more than 50 trade show customers to you over the last 8 years. People step into the booth and bounce on the floor because it's cushy. Better for feet over 3 or 4 days, easy to install.

We installed the 5/8″ soft wood tiles in our basement. Assembly was easy. However, I had to order additional tiles because of various cuts. It looks great. If I had a criticism. it's that instructions were not provided advising me that a box of tiles could be assembled in a matching pattern. I discovered this by trial and error.

  Wore Out Very Quickly
Self-installed in Kitchen
Jim from Clarkston, MI wrote...
The wood grained tiles looked great when we installed them in the kitchen, but it didn't take long at all (a couple of months, at most) for the wood grain finish to start peeling up. Now the floor looks horrible and we definitely have to replace it with something else. Maybe it's not meant for a high traffic area like a kitchen, but I think that should have been made known.

pay the extra $ for the 5/8 thickness
Self-installed in Basement
Carrie from Wisconsin wrote...
This flooring is OK. We put it in a rec room area. The tiles do not stay perfectly together (gap) and I fear the the top film will tear easily. They arrive wrapped in groups of 4 tiles with plastic, and it causes the edges of the puzzle pieces to compress down so when you try to lock it up to another piece, the puzzle pieces are not perfectly level to each other. I had ordered a sample of the 5/8 thick in Dark Oak and we decided that we would save some money and get the 3/8 thick Dark Oak. Don't make the same mistake we did and assume the color would be the same for either floor. Dark Oak in the 3/8″ is much more yellow/orange toned. Unfortunately, I had already painted the room to match the sample of the 5/8 flooring. It will work for now, but I don't expect the flooring to last. The foam core is much softer in comparison with the 5/8 inch flooring. Buyer Beware.

I have been exercising (Shaun T's T25) mon-fri mornings for 6 months on a regular blue roll-up mat for floor work. Otherwise just a concrete floor with thin carpet over it. As a reward to myself for sticking with the program I purchased these mats for myself and my workout buddy. We each use 9 mats set up in a 3x3 formation and it is plenty of room. They move around a little when doing cardio and lots of jumping but that is to be expected and could probably be fixed with a rug slip guard under it. I am now able to do my workouts in bare feet (including all of the jumping and cardio that is required) and don't have any of the soreness or expense of new shoes every 2-3 months that I was dealing with before when I was just working out on the carpet. The 5/8, in my opinion, is a good thickness to prevent injury from cardio but not be too soft at the same time. Terrific product and will be asking for more for Christmas just so I can have the luxury of a bigger area for the times when more friends show up to exercise. Just a total bonus that they look like hard wood and clean up easily.

Awesome for our basement, but a couple of things..

I bought these tiles for my entire basement! It's about 750 square feet. I love they way they look and feel and we put them right over the concrete. I have had three floods in the last 7 years and I didn't want to do carpet again. We have very uneven concrete and it wasn't a problem for the tiles which is a huge money saver not to have to level the floor. We get TONS of complements and my kids (boys) and their friends love it! But, I do have a couple of complaints. After just a couple of days of playing ping pong, the spot where the kids stand started to peel at the edges! The company was happy to replace the tiles at no cost, but I then decided to put area rugs in those spots to prevent it happening again in the future. I do have a couple of scuff marks, but that's not a huge deal for me. A couple of punctures already too. People should know going in that this product is not for a high traffic area (which I did know somewhat going in), but I didn't think it would peel so quickly. I bought extra because I know kids wreck stuff! Overall, great product and good customer service.

  New basement floors
Verified Purchase
Tiffany F. from Chesapeake, VA wrote...
We just bought our first home and the basement level had concrete floors. The main room down there was going to be a playroom, but I was concerned about my kids' safety (I have a four year old, 3 year old and 11 month old). Once I found this flooring, I was sold! We bought flooring to cover the entire playroom, under the stairs and some extra just in case. The flooring came out beautifully! My husband put it together easily with a friend. They bought said it was so easy and fun to do. It looks incredible and matches my stairs perfectly. We get so many compliments on the floors. Everyone wants them! They are extremely durable and hold up well. They are super easy to wipe down and clean. My kids have fallen on these floors and didn't get hurt at all. The floors are right on top of the concrete, but provide plenty of cushion just on their own. I literally could not be happier! Thank you for making such an incredible product!

  Lasted 5 years in kitchen
Self-installed in Kitchen
Anonymous from Houston, TX wrote...
I did my whole kitchen in dark oak for about $100 and they held up for about 5 years. They now have significant spots where the woodgrain pattern layer chipped/wore off. I am going to reorder. I think these are a great deal, and everyone who walks in is fooled, and then pleasantly surprised at the feeling under their feet. Even in the heat and humidity of Houston, I haven't had any issue with weird stuff growing under these in the kitchen, which I was worried about at first. I ordered samples first at the time there were only 3 colors, and the darkest wood looked almost black. I am ordering a cherry sample this time to see how it looks, as that is my preference, but will be happy with dark oak again, too (the light oak clashed with the whitewashed cabinets). The used tiles are going to get a second life doubled up as bench cushion stuffing, and as a mat under other smaller rugs because structurally they are still like new. A little tip, it seems that they are printed in 4 tile squares, so lay them out first, and find the blocks of 4 tiles have a continuous print and put those in the most conspicuous areas. Since I installed them, my eye went to the imperfections and the tooth pattern, but people don't really notice until they realize its foam. As long as your expectations are reasonable its definitely a better way to go than just expensive gel mats everywhere. (2 photos are after 5 years installed)

  Brown Tiles

J White from Tennessee wrote...
I fell for all of the glowing reviews on this product. I wasn't going to bother with a review. After the third email to review the product, here I am. I had purchased these mats in a solid color for a kid's playroom. I wanted something a little nicer looking and thought these would be great. I'm not sure what they mean by light traffic when paired with these reviews. These foam tiles are in my home so they get home traffic nothing like what I picture as heavy traffic. The print has totally come off after 2 months use and now I have brown foam tiles. The foam itself is very sturdy, but it was disappointing that the print didn't hold up as the reviews lead me to believe. Light traffic means no traffic. Hang these on your wall and they will look great! Forget on the floor if you expect to walk on them at all.

Got 4 kids under 8, uneven concrete floor, and a basement that uses a sump pump heavily during periods of hard rains. We wanted cushion, durability, low maintenance, and a good looking floor for our kids play area/family room and these tiles accomplished that and more. Should insulate also on cold winter days too. Have received many compliments. Pretty easy to install, and fairly economical! Also in the event of a sump failure or flood these tiles could be picked up and cleaned and reinstalled! Awesome!

Our beautiful fireplace hearth is a danger for our precious grand babies. Not only the sharp edges, but the rough rockface. We didn't want a permanent unattractive cover and discovered your soft wood tiles and Wow, it looks great! We were able to match the mantle to the tiles and we are so pleased. They are not only soft, attractive and tough, but easy to remove when the babies return home. Great product!
