Customer Questions

Don't see what you're looking for?
I am considering three different types of flooring you currently offer. One of those options is the 3/4" premium mega mats. It says it is trued so every mat is identical in size and thickness, correct? What about the 1/2" premium mega mat, is it trued as well? Thank you for your time.
Dale
Our 1/2" Premium Mega Mats would be trued to size just like our 3/4" Premium Extreme Mats.
I'm considering your 1/2 mat for my garage gym. My question is. Because I'm not going wall-to-wall, only 2 sides will be on the walls. The edge would be exposed. What can be placed there to prevent possible tripping?
karal kemp
You can add our 1/2" Rubber Floor Ramp to our 1/2" Premium Mega Mats to eliminate the tripping hazard.
I need a larger area covered. Can you just push 2 mats together? Will they stay in place?
Anonymous
You place 2 or more of our 1/2" Premium Mega Mats together to create a larger flooring surface. These mats weigh approximately 78 lbs each so they will stay in place. If they did move for any reason, we recommend using some double sided tape or glue under the mats to keep them in place.
Can these be cut to size?
JULIAN n JORY
You can cut our Premium Mega Mats with a sharp utility knife and a straight edge. Since these mats are vulcanized, cutting them can be a bit difficult, but can be done. You will first score the mat a few times to get a nice grove where you would like to cut. Once you have that, then you can cut deeper until you have cut all the way through. You may need to do a few passes when cutting this material, but you bought these mats to get in shape, so you can just see it as a workout!
Do the 4' x 6' or 47" x 71" mats lock together?
Our 1/2" Premium Mega Mats are not an interlocking mat, so you would not be able to interlock them with any mat. You can use these rubber mats with other rubber mats that are slightly larger, but you would just have to remember that the mats would not lie next to each other flush.
What is the size of your 1/2" Premium Mega Mats?
greg
Our 1/2" Premium Mega Mats are 47" x 71".
Are these mats porous or non-porous?
Dave
Our 1/2" Premium Mega Mats are a vulcanized rubber mat meaning they are non-porous.
I need a mat that can stay underwater all the time. It's for a kayak ramp that is 16ft by 6ft.
Courtney
You can install our Premium Mega Mats underwater. These mats are non-porous and will not breakdown being in the water daily.
My current mats are 3/8" to my measure if I add one of yours, is it a true 1/2" or is it closer to 3/8"? I plan to lay the mats side-by-side. Thank you.
Cassandra Walters
Our 1/2" Premium Mega Mats are 1/2" thick. If you lay them next to a 3/8" mat, there would be a noticeable height difference.
I'm looking for a LARGE exercise mat that absorbs shock when jumping or doing other cardio. Which of your products do you recommend for this?
Gale
Our 1/2" Premium Mega Mats may not be the most shock absorbant mats for doing jump exercises. We would recommend going with our Mega Mats for jump exercises as they have a little give that will help to protect your joints more. These mats are best used when dropping heavy weights. They will not only protect your subfloor but will also absorb the impact from the weights, dropping better, ensuring that less noise is transferred below.
Can you lay these mats over carpet?
Jason
You can lay our 1/2" Premium Mega Mats over low pile, commercial carpet with ease. Over high pile, thick padded residential carpet, there is potential for the mats to separate a bit when the pad underneath is depressed. This, in turn, can create a tripping hazard. To prevent this, we recommend placing a 1/4" plywood board under the mats. If you have light-colored carpet, we recommend placing a plastic sheet between the mat and the carpet to protect it from any staining.
For a home gym, 15.5' x 13.5' that will have a weight lifting rig, assume some reasonably heavy weight dropping, 300 pounds plus, do you suggest 1/2" or 3/4" in mats? My CF gym, which is a very large space has 1/2 inch stall mats.
Peter
Our 1/2" Premium Mega Mats are plenty for this type of set up. These mats are vulcanized, meaning they are more durable that typical stall mats. These mats are some of our most durable mats and were engineered for heavy Olympic lifting. 3/4" is not necessary for most home gyms. The purpose for a thicker mat is really to protect the subfloor more, say if you have a plywood subfloor, and reduce the amount of noise transmission between floors. If you are installing these mats over concrete, then you won't need anything more than 1/2," honestly.
I am looking for a mat for a garage gym. Would these mats be ok to have a car parked on them?
Billy Chu
You can park a car on our 1/2" Premium Mega Mats. These mats are vulcanized mats meaning they are super durable. The only thing you would have to worry about would be oil falling on the mats. If oil were to fall on the mats and left there for a period of time, the oil will eventually breakdown the mats. If your car does leak oil, we recommend placing our Nitro Roll or an AutoFloorGuard Mat under your vehicle.
Are these rubber mats anti-slip? Would they be good for floor exercises?
Heather Manderscheid
Our 1/2" Premium Mega Mats are very slip-resistant and even more so when wet. These mats are good for floor exercises, but if you are looking for something that is more impact resistant, then we would recommend one of our mats that are good for high-impact workouts. These rubber mats are vulcanized, meaning they are more dense and durable than our standard rubber mats. So they will be harder underfoot. If you are looking for something with a little give, we recommend checking out our high-impact flooring on our High Impact Flooring page.
What is the difference between the 1/2" Mega Mat and the 1/2" Premium Mega Mat (which costs less than the item without the word "Premium" in its description)?
Mark
The main difference between our 1/2" Premium Mega Mats and our Mega Mats is that the premium version is vulcanized. This means that the mat is more durable and non-porous. So if you are using these mats over a plywood subfloor or on a second level, they will be able to absorb more of the impact. We recommend these mats for anyone doing any Olympic lifting. For anyone looking to do more high impact workouts, we recommend using our Mega Mats are easier on the joints as they are more shock absorbent in that respect.
How are these different from interlock ones? Would you recommend these vs. interlock ones (if I plan to buy 2 mats to put them together?)
JP
The only difference between the interlocking version of our 1/2" Premium Mega Mats and the straight cut version is just that. The interlocking mats can be interlocked together to create a full floor. If you are using the mats as a standalone mat or just using a couple of mats to put under equipment or an Olympic lifting platform, the straight cut version is ideal. If you are trying to cover a large area, we would suggest going with the interlocking version.
Do these mats off-gas much? Will my basement end up smelling like rubber? Sensitive to odors, so this could be a show stopper.
Sally
Our 1/2" Premium Mega Mats do have an odor to them, which does dissipate over time. If you are sensitive, we recommend mopping these mats with a mild soap and water solution. Once mopped, you will want these mats to air dry in a well-ventilated area. Repeat these steps as many times as necessary to get the smell to a tolerable level.
