Hi, can I use this product (Impact Rolls - Designer Series) for the Badminton Courts? Is 8mm enough for this kind of indoor sport? I just need rolls that are not too soft and too hard.
Gen
Technically, yes, our 8mm Impact Rolls - Designer Series can be used as a badminton court, but they are not the best choice for this. For courts used for sports, we recommend using one of our court floors in conjunction with our rubber underlayment. This will not only give you a floor that has enough slip not to cause injury, but also a court that is shock absorbent enough to keep your joints safe. You can find all of our court flooring options on our court flooring page.
Two questions. Can I cut these myself to fit a room; and if I use an exercise bike and an elliptical, will they move if on these rolls or am I better off with harder rubber ties that interlock?
Our 8mm Impact Rolls - Designer Series can be cut to fit any room easily with a straight edge and a utility knife. You can place any fitness equipment over these rubber rolls with out them moving. The only thing you might see with heavier pieces of equipment is that the flooring will indent a bit at the equipments feet. To prevent this dimpling, we recommend using furniture sliders under the feet of the equipment.
What is the application if we lay impact flooring over existing low carpet? How does it stay in place?
DeeAnn Vaughn
When installing our 8mm Impact Rolls - Designer Series rolls over low pile carpet, you can honestly loose lay the rubber rolls over the carpet and it will stay in place. If for some reason when performing certain exercises the rolls were to me, which is very rare as these rolls are pretty heavy, you could add some double-sided tape under the rolls to keep them in place.
Is the 8mm non-impact roll more durable than the impact version? Will treadmills and other heavy stationary equipment cause the impact roll to compress / indent over time?
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Rolls in both the standard and the designer series would be more durable. Their main function is to protect the subfloor when dropping heavy dumbbells. Our 8mm Impact Rolls - Designer Series are made to give you the best of both worlds. They have a durable top layer great for placing fitness equipment on and a nice thick rubber underlay, giving you added shock absorption when performing high-intensity workouts.
