Customer Questions

Ask a Question
we want to put these tiles over a flat roof but want to make sure the will not penetrate roof and cause leaks. will this work for that purpose?
Doreen Pennica
Our Designer Grip-Loc Tiles are made from EVA and are a very flexible plastic that will not puncture your roof. These tiles will work as flooring on a roof. Since these tiles are not UV stable, these tiles will fade in direct sunlight. Also, there may be some expansion and contraction with these tiles, so you will want to leave an expansion gap around the flooring surface. These tiles will allow water to flow freely through the flooring system making them slip resistant when wet and they are mold and mildew resistant.
What is used to cut them for a custom fit?
Richard Oliver
You can cut our Designer Grip-Loc Tiles easily with a sharp utility knife and a straight edge.
Do these tiles have to be put over a concrete base? I am thinking of using under a hot tub. The soil is firm with gravel.
You can install our Designer Grip-Loc Tiles over crushed gravel under a hot tub. We typically recommend installing these tiles over concrete or asphalt, but any hard flat surface also works. If there is a major flooding event, these tiles may become unstable and may float away, but under normal conditions, these tiles will perform just fine.
Designer grip-loc tiles, are they soft or hard plastic?
Our Designer Grip-Loc Tiles are a soft plastic flooring. These tiles are great a shower flooring because they are comfortable underfoot and slip resistant when wet. These tiles are very easy to install and clean and are mold and mildew resistant.
Can these tiles be used in a sauna?
Our Designer Grip-Loc Tiles can be used as flooring in a sauna. These tiles were meant to be used as flooring in areas where water will be present and are softer than our hard plastic tiles. They are still very durable but are meant to be comfortable under bare feet. These tiles will not melt due to the heat in the sauna as they are made from the same material as many household items and piping.
Do they work as well with soft water as with hard water? I've found that soft water makes my showers WAY slipperier!
Our Designer Grip-Loc Tiles work the same whether the water is hard or soft. These tiles have feet that keep them in place.
Will these tiles work on a boat floor to keep a cooler in place? Will these tiles remain in place and not slide around on the boat floor?
Address 2
Our Designer Grip-Loc Tiles can be used as a flooring surface on a boat. These tiles are vented, allowing water to pass through and under the flooring, surface keeping you dry. The tiles are interlocking and when interlocked are heavy enough to stay in place without any glue needed. If they did move for any reason, some double-sided tape or glue could be added under the tiles to keep them in place.
What is the difference between the Rugged vs. the designer Grip loc tiles? Are the rugged stronger? I am creating an outdoor gym, with a universal weight system that will sit on them, so for supporting weight is one better than the other?
Our Designer Grip-Loc Tiles are made from a softer plastic compared to the Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles. Also, our Designer Grip-Loc Tiles are also not UV treated like the Rugged Grip-Loc tiles, which is why we don't recommend them for outdoor areas. The softer plastic used for those tiles also expands and contracts drastically, so we would not recommend using those tiles in a confined area outdoors. When it comes to working out on them, since the plastic is a little softer, you would get some shock absorbency that you wouldn't get from the Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles. To get more bounce and comfort from the Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles, we recommend adding our ShockPad under the tiles. Both would be able to support any weight put on them.
Are these tile slip-resistant, can be used in oil change places?
Our Designer Grip-Loc Tiles are slip-resistant. We don't recommend driving vehicle over them, but if you wanted to use them as a custom anti-fatigue mat, they definitely would work for that purpose. These tiles are stain-resistant and can be used in areas where oil changes would be done.
Good morning, was told by your sales person that your Designer Grip-Loc was best for a boat dock, however, when I went online to look at the specs the first customer question answered by your Staff says it is not UV stable. Can you clarify what are my top 3 choices when looking to cover a boat dock (slip resistant and direct sun exposure).
For a boat dock, if you're going for a wood-look, our Helios Deck Tiles will be a good option. If you're looking for something similar to the Designer Grip-Loc tiles, the top 3 products will be the Rugged Grip-loc Tiles, Vented Grip-Loc Tiles, and Smooth Rugged Grip-Loc Tiles. All these tiles are slip-resistant and won't fade.
Can I use this on dog crates for grid floors ?
Yes, you can use our Designer Grip-Loc Tiles on dog crates.
