Customer Questions

Don't see what you're looking for?
What are sound attenuation properties of your rubber tile flooring? Can you send technical data please ? I'm not seeing anything on your site . Thank you, Julie
Mike
Our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles do not have any data on sound attenuation, but they are tested for sound absorption and transmission. To get the testing results for these, please feel free to contact one of our customer service agents at 800-613-0996 and they will be more than happy to send it to you.
Do these 6mm Energy rubber tiles include the border pieces?
GDB
Our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles only come in center tiles. To create border and corner tiles you will need to cut the tiles with a sharp utility knife and straight edge.
I'm looking to use these for a home gym in a basement - the floor is currently concrete and I was wondering if this would provide enough support or if it's going to feel like I'm working out on concrete? Thank you in advance!
Anonymous
Our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles will provide you with added comfort underfoot and shock absorbent over concrete.
Are these tiles waterproof in any way if you have a spill?
Anonymous
Our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles are water resistant, not waterproof. When water is spilled it will sit on top of the tile initially. Over time, the water may seep into the pores that are on the floor and eventually evaporate. What is typically left behind are the salts in minerals that were in the water.
What is the best way to clean the tiles after installed?
Jane
Our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles are very easy to clean and maintain. For large dirt and debris, you will want to sweep the tiles or use a vacuum without the brush attachment to remove it. For stuck-on dirt and debris, you can mop the tiles with a mild soap and water solution or our Rubber Floor Cleaner and Degreaser with a synthetic mop head. You will then want to let the flooring air dry.
Is it safe to put tiles in a room where they would be going under the baseboard heat?
You can install our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles under a baseboard heater. The only thing you will notice with these tiles being near the heating source is some expansion and contraction. We would recommend leaving a 1/2" gap between the tile and wall to account for this added expansion and contraction.
Is this durable enough to drop barbells?
Rich
Our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles can handle the dropping of barbells on them. If the barbells are over 25lbs, we do recommend using a thicker rubber tile.
If this is to go in a sunroom/home gym, would the tiles really heat up due to the background black color in all of the choices?
Mo
Our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles would feel warm to the touch if placed in direct sunlight. To help mitigate this we would recommend wearing shoes when walking over the flooring or putting down rugs in the areas where the sun would hit the most.
Will the rubber used in these mats discolor hardwood flooring over time?
Matthew
Our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles will not discolor most hardwood floors. It is very rare for this to happen. If you are concerned that our rubber tiles will stain your hardwood flooring, we recommend placing a plastic sheet under the tiles to prevent any discoloration.
Is there anything I need to lay between my concrete floor and this matting for install purposes?
You don't have to place anything under our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles. The only thing you would have to do is make sure that the subfloor is free and clear of any dirt or debris.
Will these damage carpet underneath if I have them over a carpeted area?
olivia
Our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles will not damage any carpet that they are installed over. We recommend installing our rubber tiles over low pile commercial carpet as this will provide a flat, solid surface to install the tiles on. You can install these over plush, residential carpet with a thick pad, but we don't recommend it as there is potential for a tripping hazard as the pad depresses. If you have a light colored carpet and are worried that the tiles will stain the carpet, we recommend placing a plastic sheet between the tiles and the carpet.
I'd like to use these on a basement floor, made of cement, that has some undulations and is not perfectly flat. Will, that cause any problems?
Jen
You can install our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles over a subfloor that is not perfectly flat. As long as the pits and peaks are not too extreme, over an inch, you won't have any issues. The one area that any pits or peaks can cause a real issue is at the point where the tiles interlock. These pits and peaks can prevent the tiles from interlocking properly.
Is 6mm vulcanized? Is there an odor with 6mm?
Our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles are not vulcanized. Our Energy Rubber Tiles do have a slight rubber odor to them. If you are sensitive to smells, we recommend mopping the flooring with a mild soap and water solution and letting the flooring air dry. You will want to make sure you have plenty of ventilation in the room you are installing the flooring. You may have to repeat this step a few times to get the smell to the desired comfort level.
How durable will these tiles be in daily industrial office use (mainly rolling chairs)?
Joe McNeely
Our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles were designed to be used in home gyms where heavy equipment and weights would be dropped on them, so these rubber tiles will perform excellently in an office setting. Rolling chairs will not damage these tiles in any way. The only thing that could happen is if a tile were to come unlocked, and the chair was to move it a bit. To fix this, all you would have to do is just re-interlock the tile.
Can I install these over a tile floor? It's a 14x12 room. It will be used for exercise (Stationary bike, lunges, yoga, etc). No weights being dropped on it.
Frank
Our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles can be installed over any hard, flat surface such as concrete, asphalt, plywood, tile, laminate, and the like. So our 6mm rubber tiles can be installed over existing tile with ease. They can also be installed over low pile commercial carpet with ease. The only thing that these tiles can't really be installed over is a high pile, thick padded residential carpet. This is due to a tripping hazard being created when the pad is depressed. To get around this issue, we recommend installing a 1/4" thick plywood board over the carpet so that the tiles can be installed on a hard, flat surface.
What would the dimensions of the tile be with the interlocking piece trimmed off? Is it 2 ft x 2 ft to the end of the interlocking teeth? My room is 12' x 14' exactly, and I need to know if I should plan on the tiles covering less than 2' x 2' when trimmed straight.
Matt
When interlocked, the size of our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles is 23.25" x 23.25". So you will lose about 3/4 of an inch when you cut off the tabs. We do offer a tile calculator on the product page that will assist you in figuring out the number of tiles needed to cover your space.
Can I use these tiles in only part of my garage,or does it have to be wall to wall?
Kim
You can use our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles in your garage without having to install them throughout. These tiles can be just installed in the area where you are wanting to work out. These tiles interlock very tightly and will stay in place.
Are these flame retardant?
Our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles do not contain any flame retardants and have a fire rate of Class III.
Is it ok to park a car on top of the flooring occasionally?
Colton
You can park a car occasionally over our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles. We don't recommend it as the tiles could pop out of place when turning or driving over the tiles. If you wanted to prevent that, you could use our polyurethane adhesives to keep the tiles in place. The only other thing you may notice is if your car were to leak oil onto the flooring, that over time the rubber will breakdown. If your car does leak oil, we recommend placing one of our Nitro Rolls over the tiles or one of AutoFloorGuards containment mats under your car.
If I cut all the tabs off of all sides of a tile, what is the size of the remaining tile? Is it 22” x 22” or 23” x 23”? Thanks.
Paula
If you cut off all the tabs on our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles, the size of the tile would be 23" x 23".
You state the tile is 24" w 24", is that edge to edge including the cutouts for linking together? Also, curious to know how they hold up in freezing temperatures?
Joseph Davis
When interlocked, the size of our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles is 23.25" x 23.25". So you will lose about 3/4 of an inch when you cut off the tabs. We do offer a tile calculator on the product page that will assist you in figuring out the number of tiles needed to cover your space. Our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles will hold up just fine in freezing temperatures. Since they are made from the tread of commercial truck tires, they will not behave any differently than your tires in freezing temperatures.
If the tiles are placed over existing faux wood tiles (ceramic), is there potential for staining or transfer of color?
Miranda
Our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles will not stain ceramic or porcelain tiles.
Will the tiles separate during workouts or over time?
Ian Stift
Our 6mm Energy Rubber Tiles interlock very tightly and, for most exercises, will not separate over time. There are instances with some lateral movement exercises that the tiles could separate, but this is very rare. In these instances, we recommend placing some double-sided tape under the tiles to keep them interlocked.
