Is this flooring gym rated?
Bernie
These tiles are playground tiles are fall height rated.
I live in AZ where it gets 115-120 in the summer. Do these tiles get too hot for little feet? Thank you
Anonymous
Our Jamboree Playground Tiles - Designer Series will get warm in direct sunlight, but not warmer than concrete or asphalt. These tiles have been installed all over the US even here in Arizona with great success. To keep these tiles cool in the summer, we do recommend soaking them with water to help keep them cool in the heat of the day. Since these tiles are made from rubber, they are more slip resistant when wet ensuring your children will be able to play in a fun and safe environment.
Are these tiles made of non-toxic materials?
Anonymous
Our Jamboree Playground Tiles - Designer Series are made from non-toxic materials. If you would like the MSDS sheet for these tiles, please feel free to email, chat, or phone and one of our Flooring Heroes, and they will be happy to send it to you.
What kinds of surfaces can these be installed over? Can they be installed directly over dirt? Is there any special ground preparation required other than grading?
Yes, the Jamboree Playground Tiles - Designer Series can be installed directly over dirt and grading the ground is all you will need. However, we do not recommend installing these tiles directly over dirt because drainage could be an issue during rains. We recommend installing these tiles over hard surfaces like concrete, asphalt and crushed gravel.
Can you cut the tiles to fit around the playground equipment post.
Henry Yoder
Yes, Our Jamboree Playground Tiles - Designer Series can be cut to fit with the use of a large bread knife or band saw.
The playground tile installation video shows the tiles ganged together with the corner connector and nothing more, but your website suggests "important tools for installation" including adhesive. I assume that I don't really need adhesive. In what application might you need adhesive?
To adhere to the ramps and corners you may want to use an adhesive (if needed). Just apply the glue to the side that butts up to the tile, press, and hold and the ramp and corners will bind to the floor. Sometimes customers also like to glue their tiles down for a more permanent solution.
Does one need quad connectors to connect 2 tiles at the edges? Is it even possible to connect two tiles at the edges, or it is only to connect 4 tiles in the middle? Thank you!
Nima
You'd only need the quad blok connector to connect 4 tiles together, the weight of the tiles will help them stay in place. Please see our installation video under the "Installation" tab on the product page for detailed installation instructions.
Are the tiles EXACTLY 24" x 24"? A 16th of an inch can make a difference if you're laying 20 tiles x 10 tiles with poured concrete borders.
Our Jamboree Playground Tiles - Designer Series are 24" x 24".
What is the quad block connector made of, it is rubber or a hard plastic, will it scratch a surface that it is laid on top of, does it have adhesive or do tiles snap into it?
Amanda
The quad blok connector is made of rubber and requires no adhesive. It will not scratch a surface laid on top of it.
Can these be installed outside over exposed aggregate without concerns for mold or toxic buildup?
payam
Yes. Depending on your installation method, air should able to flow under our Jamboree Playground Tiles allowing for quick evaporation of any water under the tiles. Since these tiles are made from rubber, mold and mildew will not grow on them.
I plan on installing these tiles over compacted road base which is enclosed by 6x6 railroad ties. I'm curious how porous these tiles are and should I account for drainage underneath the tiles at the base, or will most of the water run off if graded correctly?
Ryan
These tiles are not porous - water will run off the tiles.
