Description – Our Modular Dance Floor Kits are designed for any level of dancer and are perfect when utilized as a lightweight, modular, and portable flooring surface. These kits are very easy to install, are scuff resistant, easy to clean, and will look great for years to come. Recommended Uses - Our Modular Dance Floor Kits are the perfect portable dance floor for both home and business use. These dance floor kits are easy to install and disassemble and are commonly used as tap dance floors, event flooring, as a home dance floor, as an outdoor dance floor, as a studio floor, and much more.

Dance Floor interlocking tile kits are easy to maintain. Cleaning of these multiuse tiles typically includes:
  • Vacuuming or sweeping any loose crumbs, dust, or debris from the modular tiles when necessary.
  • Hose off or damp mop the floor tiles with a mild soap and water mixture for tough or caked-on dirt and/or stains.

Dance Floor Kits are easy to install. Installation of these floor tiles typically includes:
  • Surface Prep: Clean your subfloor so that it is free of all dirt, dust, grease, or other foreign material before beginning installation.
  • We will start at the top left corner of your designated dance area. Put a tile down with the male edges (no loop) facing towards the top and left direction. Make sure the female sides (loops) of the tile are facing the bottom and right direction.
  • Attach your second tile to the right side of the first tile, lowering and interlocking it into each loop.
  • Repeat step #2 until you have completed one full side of your dance floor.
  • Once you’ve secured your last tile into place in the first row, you’ll begin a second row beneath the very first tile. Interlock the top of your second row tile with the bottom of your first row tile. Follow step #2.
  • Follow the same process to fill in all of your rows of tiles to create your desired dance floor size.
  • Once the tiles are in place, you can snap in the edge pieces, if you purchased them. Start with the male edges. Lay them out to be sure you have enough before clicking them into place.
  • As you did with the male edges, lay out all female edges to make sure you have enough. Once you are ready you can click the female edges into place to complete your floor.
  • **For wall-to-wall installations: When you come up to a wall or object, don’t worry. Simply measure the area and cut the tiles with a tile cutter or a power saw with a fine-toothed blade. Interlock the trimmed tiles into place. When trimming the tiles into place, make sure you leave about a 3/4” space between the tiles and the wall or obstruction. Once the tiles are in place, you can then snap in the edge pieces if you purchased them.
Note:Since these dance tiles feature a vinyl top adhered to the tile with a pressure-sensitive adhesive, pressure may be needed to ensure that the vinyl top fully adheres. You can easily accomplish this by walking across the floor or by using a flooring roller for larger areas.

Dance floor kits can generally speaking be installed and used just fine over a dense, low pile type carpet. Over a high pile carpet, We would recommend putting down some plywood board to make sure you have a sturdy foundation underneath the tiles and that they do not come undone.
Can this be use on a concrete surface or is it better to add additional rubber flooring? Also does the surface need to be perfectly flat?

You can most definitely install this directly over concrete. A thin rubber underlayment could be used to help to mitigate the sound of the tiles on the concrete. The surface should be nice and flat so that the tiles do not become interlocked when in use.
I want to use this floor over low pile carpet for a rolling cabinet. Will the floor tiles remain flush as wheels are rolled across it? Will the surface deform under pressure? Each wheel would be supporting about 100 lbs of cabinet, but a ballerina on pointe would weigh more than that in the same area, so I was thinking this might work. More worried about whether rolling across two tiles would be a problem, as well as, the long term effects of cabinet wheels sitting in one spot for a long period of time.

I want to use this dance floor for tap practice. Can this flooring be set on top of my existing wood floors without damaging them or would I need to place something between my wood floor and this dance floor? Thanks!

if say you buy a 5x5 kit, can you add to make it bigger later if you want? Like if you had more room down the line, could it be expanded to 10 x10 if you wanted to purchase another 5x5 and add it to the existing floor?

We are wondering what thickness of plywood is recommended to use this floor over a carpet. Is there a thickness that works best?

If the carpet is a high, plush pile a thicker plywood would likely be better as it would lay more flat.
I don't have the space to leave this out permanently. Can this easily be disassembled and reassembled? And will it stand up to this kind of use? Also, I have downstairs neighbors, will this absorb sound so my steps don't disturb them?

Dance floor kits can definitely be disassembled and reassembled. You may place a rug, carpet pad, or something cushioned like our subfloor tiles to help absorb some of the sound for folks on the floor below.
On the 10'x10' kit, is the actual dance floor that dimension with the edge pieces being outside of that? Or is the 10'x10' dimensions counting the length of the edge pieces?

Is this floor weather proof? I would like to set the floor up outside and leave it set up for the summer.

If using these tiles outdoors they are meant as a temporary flooring as the vinyl surface may fade in the sunlight over time.
I am interested in the portable dance floor kit. What I am looking for is a floor that can be easily put together or taken apart to be stored so that my daughter can dance in our living room. Is this meant to be put together and left in one piece, or is it easy to break down into the individual tiles and stored?

What are the benefits of using this floor vs dancing on tile or carpet? Does it take pressure off joints the way a raised wood floor does?
These tiles are not specifically designed for pressure relief. Dance Floor Kits are a great portable dance floor solution for use at events as well as in the home for personal practice. It provides a flat, durable surface for several dance styles.

Would you be able to put this on a shag carpet and install a pole on it? Asking because I just bought a pole and do not want to be rolling around on carpet.

If the carpet is a shag, we recommend using a layer of plywood between the carpet and tiles. This would make it stay flat.
Can the dance floor kit have black and white tiles?

Hi - can you feel the gaps/ridges in between the tiles ie. does it feel 'seamless'.? We need the dance floor for ballet turns and ridges wouldn't work so well. Thanks

We have just built a patio room with aggregate concrete for floor....will your floor kits work over exposed aggregate?

The flatter the subfloor surface, the better. High points can make it tough to keep the interlocking piece together.
What size dance floor would be appropriate for 30 guests?
The rule of thumb is ~ 9 sq ft per couple. So you would want a dance floor size of ~ 135 sq ft of larger assuming they would be all be on the floor at the same time.
Does the 3’ by 3’ floor come assembled with the black edging?
Our Dance Floor Kits do not come assembled. Assembly is required. With your shipment, you will get all the tiles that you need to complete your install. This would include the tiles and edging needed to create the dance floor kit in the size purchased.
Can I move this without taking it apart?

If you have a smaller size dance floor kit, you may be able to move it without taking it apart. However, the larger you get the more difficult it will be to move.

I’m looking for a dance floor for our home. My daughter does a variety of dance styles (jazz, tap, lyrical) I’m debating between the portable dance tiles or the adagio rolls. Which would you recommend?
Dance Floor Kits or the Adagio Rolls are suitable for a variety of dance styles, so really either would work. You'll get more tap noise from the dance tiles since they are harder.
If I bought this to go over a builder grade low pile carpet and use it for a rolling desk chair, am I going to ruin it ? I'm thinking of buying some tiles for me to use and eventually turn them into dance floor for my daughter

The tiles do have a vinyl surface that could potentially be damaged be continuous rolling over the edges. We'd recommend using a chair mat over top or possibly even getting a dance tile that is a solid color (doesn't have a glued on vinyl top).
Are the black tiles a similar feel to a Marley dance floor? Trying to decide whether to go this route or with marley instead. Need to install over carpet, so I'd obviously need some kind of tile system under the Marley anyway...

The tiles are not finished with marley. The surface is a standard vinyl tile.

These tiles can be installed over carpet with a sturdy, flat subfloor like a sheet of plywood or our dance subfloor tiles in between the carpet and the tiles.

Yes you can use marley in addition to our Dance Floor Kits.
If I am not worried about color fade, will the dance floor kits work outside for 4-6 months at a time?
The only issue would be that since the wood surface is a vinyl print layer, it's possible that the adhesive could overheat in the sun and cause the vinyl layer to move around or detach from the base of the tiles. You can apply further adhesive as need be to keep the wood print layer down.

Yes you can, however you do run the risk of a hot vehicle undercarriage overheating the tiles and loosening the adhesive used for the wood look vinyl top piece.

I need a 24' x 24' dance floor. Could I just buy like two 10x10's and then a 4x4 and keep connecting the pieces to make a 24' x 24' square dance floor or is the max the 10'x10'?
