Flagstone Rubber Pavers are designed to be low maintenance, making them the perfect choice for outdoor flooring. Here are some simple steps to keep your pavers looking their best:
  • Regularly sweep the surface of the pavers with a stiff outdoor bristle broom to remove any dirt, debris, or leaves that may accumulate on the surface.
  • Occasionally spray or hose off the pavers with clean water to remove any stubborn dirt or stains.
  • If necessary, vacuum the surface of the recycled rubber tiles with a shop vac to remove any fine particles that may have settled on the surface.
  • If your pavers become stained, simply use a mild soap and water solution and gently scrub the tiles with a soft nylon bristle brush or mop. Rinse with clean water and allow to air dry.
Note: Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaning tools on your pavers, as these may damage the surface and reduce their lifespan. With proper care, your Flagstone Rubber Pavers will provide years of low-maintenance, high-performance outdoor flooring.
Flagstone Paver Tiles are very easy to install. Installation of these tiles is as follows:
  • Thoroughly clean the surface where the pavers are to be installed. Allow it to dry completely. Make sure that both the paver and surface have no moisture on them for best adhesion.
  • Place Flagstone pavers on the surface to assure you have the proper amount and that you like the overall design.
  • To achieve the best results, snap chalk lines as a guide to ensure the pavers are straight during installation.
  • Begin installation in a corner or against a wall and work in a small section.
  • Apply a polyurethane adhesive to the bottom of the paver and place on the surface.
  • Gently tap tiles into place with a rubber mallet for adhesion.
  • Continue laying full pavers in place until complete.
  • For any pavers that require cutting, use a razor knife, cutting the paver in a series of scores to acquire a clean edge.
  • Allow the area to dry for a minimum of 24 hours before use.
  • After installation, some natural weathering may occur.

Flagstone Rubber Pavers look like a good solution for hiding a shifting concrete problem I have on a front porch. However, this is southern Arizona and porch is on south side, so question is: will the material hold up to intense desert sun and heat? And do you have finish edge pieces (like a bull nose edge for the perimeter?) Thank you.

Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers will hold up to the intense desert sun. During the day you may see some expansion of the tiles with the heat of the day, but that will subside with the cool of the day. If the pavers will be in direct sunlight for a long period of time, you may experience some fading. We currently do not have any edging for these tiles.
From the answer to a question, I see that you can install the rubber flagstone pavers on compacted dirt (with a weed barrier). But installation instructions require the pavers to be glued down; I assume because of wind lift. How does one prevent wind lift when installed on dirt or what is the substitute for gluing it down?

If a full spread glue down installation is not available, you can use a seam sealer adhesive to glue the pavers to each other. This will help to create a solid floor that would be able to withstand most wind events.
I want to install pavers in the back yard. Do I need to prepare the ground before laying the pavers ?

If you are placing the pavers over grass or compacted dirt you will want to ensure the surface is flat. You will also want to place a weed barrier under the pavers to keep grass from growing through the flooring surface. If the pavers are being placed on a concrete slab, you will want to ensure the surface is clean of dirt and debris.
This tile would be installed outdoors over a concrete flooring. In the winter it will ice up for days and possibly weeks at a time. How well will it withstand these cold and icy conditions?

Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers hold up well in all temperatures. These tiles are made to be installed outdoors and will not get brittle in cold temperatures.
From the photo of the tile, it looks like these tiles do have enough space under them to allow water to run out from underneath them. But no mention is made of this (unlike for some other products you sell). Also - is there any acoustic reduction using these tiles? We want to use them on our deck, which is above two bedrooms, and in a wet climate (Seattle).

Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers are a two-sided paver and allow for water and other liquids to flow under them easily. These tiles would provide some impact resistance and noise reduction from the floor above, which would make them perfect for your deck.
If placing this over existing wood deck do you glue it down, and does this product resist any mildew problems that I have had with indoor outdoor carpet.

Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers do not have to be glued to the wood deck. If you wanted to glue the pavers to the deck, we recommend the usage of a polyurethane glue. Since these are made with rubber, no mold or mildew will grown on them.
I plan to install this on a rubber roof membrane. Do I still have to glue it down?

You do not have to glue our Flagstone Rubber Pavers over a rubber roof membrane. These tiles can be loose laid.
How well will these pavers hold up to ice and snow as we live in the the mountains of Colorado? They will also get dry heat in the summers.

Can a scroll saw be used to cut flagstone rubber pavers instead of a razor knife?

You can use an electric saw to cut our Flagstone Rubber Pavers. Typically rubber is cut with a band saw, but you can use a scroll saw to cut these. You will just need to make sure that you run it at a low speed with either water or silicone running over the blade to keep it from melting the rubber as it cuts.
How would I cover stairs?

To cover stairs with our Flagstone Rubber Pavers you would just have to cut the tiles to fit and then glue them to the stairs with a polyurethane glue.
How do we remove a pucker? The four corners of our tiles are turning up after four years of usage. We live in a cold climate but do wash the tiles up in the fall and winter them in our garage. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

The best way to remove a pucker would be to install the flooring with a polyurethane adhesive permanently. Since these tiles are made from recycled rubber, they will expand and contract with the heating and cooling of the day. The pucker you see is the tiles expanding. When replacing the flooring, you can also try and install the tiles in the hottest part of the day; this will ensure that there is a proper amount of gapping between each paver to keep them from puckering. Readjustments may be needed as you have the flooring installed throughout the summer.
Our entry way porch is concrete which is cracking. We live in snow country which means it may need to be shoveled daily of 1-12+" of snow. Our temperature ranges from -10 F in the winter to 90 F in the summer. 1) Will these tiles work to cover the cracks, 2) Will these tile hold up to the snow shoveling , 3) Will these tile be too slippery for us to walk on when they are wet or snow covered? If these tiles will not work, can you make a suggestion?

Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers are freeze/thaw stable, so they will be able to handle the seasonal temperatures. These tiles are made from the same material your car tires are made of. If you do need to shovel snow off of the tiles, you can do this, but we recommend using a plastic shovel. If you use a metal shovel, there is potential for you to damage the tiles. Since these tiles are made of rubber, they are very slip resistant and are actually more slip resistant when wet. Now if there is ice on the tiles, you will need to use sand or salt to regain the traction that is lost.
What percentage of the content of the flagstone pavers are recycled material?

I also want to put these on ground inside my kennel runs. The ground will be somewhat level with sand laid over the dirt and weed cloth and will be under a carport. Any suggestions? and do you think they will withstand the dogs and hosing down on a daily basis?

Our Red Flagstone Rubber Pavers are 3/4" thick and can be installed over concrete in indoor and outdoor applications. Rubber is naturally more slip resistant when wet, so, they would work great as a bathroom floor.
Are these flammable? I have a building where we have a rooftop where we want young people to chill, but if one of them throws a cigarette on the floor, I don't want to have a fire.
Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers are not flammable. If a cigarette butt were to be thrown on the tiles, the cigarette would just smolder out over time like it would on a highway. Are these tiles perfectly square? Other rubber tiles I have looked into have comments stating they vary in size from 1/8" to 1/4", which causes gaps in the seams and makes the installation complicated with a not so good end result. Will all of the tiles have the same uniform color - no light/dark variations?
No tile is truly perfect, but our Flagstone Rubber Pavers a pretty darn close. The tiles will install like any standard brick paver and you should not experience any gapping when installed on flat ground. There can be some color variation as these tiles are painted but we try to make sure that all tiles in an order a pretty similar in shade and color.
We have a raised wooden deck; roofed and screened. Would these be an option to keep the bugs from coming up through the floor?

There is no guarantee that our Flagstone Rubber Pavers will keep bugs off your deck, but it will make if more difficult for them to get on there. For best results, we would recommend you install the pavers with our seam sealer the way the bugs won't be able to get on the deck through the floor.
I want to use these to replace an existing ground level deck that is warped. But I want to be able to use a firepit. Is this possible?

Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers can be used as temporary flooring in an outdoor patio. The only preparation you would need to do is make sure that the tiles are placed on a flat surface. We recommend placing them over concrete or crushed gravel to keep the flooring flat, but you can place it on flat ground.
I'm interested in installing these around my pool on top of concrete. Will these lift in temperatures up to 100 and also freezing temperatures in the winter? Worried about what happens if water gets under them?

Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers are freeze/thaw stable so they ill not lift up in 100-degree temps. or in freezing temps. If water were to get under the tiles, that is not a problem. Over time, the water will either evaporate or flow right back into your pool or drain if there are any slopes.
How much heat does this product retain? Is it comfortable to walk on barefoot in the hot sun?

Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers will retain some heat when in direct sunlight, but they will be much cooler than concrete or asphalt in direct sunlight. If these pavers do become too warm, you can hose them down with water. Since these pavers are made with rubber, they are more slip resistant when wet.
I am looking for outdoor tiles/flooring that can be put directly over soft sand, and removed if necessary. I live a the beach and have a sandy area behind the house. Do these tiles work on soft surface? Also, do they get hot if in direct sun( (can one easily on them in are feet)? Thanks.

I just bought a house and the backyard is a concrete slab with some decent, but not major cracks in it. how will this affect installation?

You can install our Flagstone Rubber Pavers over concrete that is not perfect. As long the concrete is fairly flat, you will have no problems with installing the tiles over it. If there are major deviations in height, then you will need to repair the concrete first before installing the tiles.
How is the drainage of the rubber paver? If layout the tiles side by side, are the channels on the tiles connect to provide drainage path?

When laid side by side our Flagstone Rubber Pavers wouldn't create channels for drainage purposes. These tiles are somewhat porous and do allow water to flow through the tiles, so you would not have to worry about water pooling on top of the flooring in normal conditions.
Can rubber pavers be used indoors and if so, can they be sealed like other rubber flooring options? Will they flake excessively?

If your car does leak oil, we suggest placing a mat where your car will be parked are where it commonly travels.

Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers will get hot in direct sunlight, but not as hot as concrete or stone. Since these tiles are made from rubber, they are very slip resistant when wet. So we suggest wetting the tiles ever so often to keep them cool. Since they are more slip resistant when wet, you won't have to worry about the tiles becoming a slip hazard.
I have a puppy, will these tiles absorb urine and smell, how do I clean them?

Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers will not absorb pet urine. These tiles are porous and will allow that to flow through the tile. To clean these tiles, we recommend hosing them down with water and a mild soap and water solution. You would then allow the flooring to air dry.
How well do these pavers hold up to a grill on them and possibly having grill grease falling on them?

Which glue is preferred when gluing each to other side-by-side, by putting on dirt?

We recommend using our Polyurethane Adhesive outdoors to glue our Flagstone Rubber Pavers and any other outdoor rubber product. This glue is freeze/thaw stable and can withstand the elements better.
I have a very heavy planter box that measures 6' X 2' X 2' (L/W/H) filled with dirt and has 6 swivel casters to allow for rolling on my patio. I don't know exactly how heavy it is. Will the flagstone rubber tiles withstand the weight without depression points where the casters rest and will I be able to roll the box around?

Can these be cut to go around a circle planter

You can cut our Flagstone Rubber Pavers to go around any object in your yard. These tiles are best cut with a band saw or circular saw. If using a circular saw, we recommend running the blade at a low speed with water or silicone running over the blade. You can also use a sharp utility knife and a straight edge to cut these tiles as well.
Are there slots so the water can drain. Are there ways the water can continue to slide out under the tiles, so the water does not accumulate there?

Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers don't have slots in them to allow for water drainage. The tiles themselves are made to be water permeable and allow water to flow through them. This water will drain through the tile and to the ground below. If it over dirt, the water will soak into the soil. If over concrete, the water will flow under the tiles to the soil.
I have installed rubber tiles over cement patio. I have a gap at the wall edge since the wall was crooked. It is 1/4 to 1/2 inch gap. what can I fil it in with

If you wanted to create a finished look around your Flagstone Rubber Pavers, we recommend using a quarter round to cover up the gap. You can find all of our quarter rounds in our trims and molding section.
I would like to use these on our roof deck, however it is pitched slightly for drainage. Can I use adjustable pedestals with these to make the deck even?

Help me understand how drainage works on these tiles if you advise to put a weed barrier down and then glue the tiles together over dirt? Would that not prevent drainage?

The weed barrier would not prevent the water to flow through our Flagstone Rubber Pavers. The paver itself is semi-permeable allowing water to flow through the tile. The water would then hit the weed barrier and flow through the dirt below since most proper weed barriers are porous. The glue between the tiles just ensures the flooring performs properly in both hot and cold weather.
I would like to install in my garage are they mildew resistance and can you drive on them?

Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers can be used as flooring in a garage. These tiles are mold and mildew resistant and can be driven over. The only issue that you may occur is when oils interact with the floor. Over time, car oil will break down the flooring.
I want to install the pavers on an EPDM roofing membrane to create a rooftop deck. The roof is pitched slightly to allow water to flow from front to back for drainage. Will the rubber paver allow the water to properly drain from the roof in the direction of the slope and not puddle?

Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers would allow for water to flow with the slope of your roof to allow water to flow off your roof properly. Water will also not puddle on top of the pavers, as they are semi-porous and allow water to flow through them to the subfloor below.
I am thinking about installing these flagstone pavers around my swimming pool; I am concerned about the salt water generation process will be a major problem when splashed out onto the surface. Also the color fading due to the sun and the very low salt content that is in the water.

Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers are a great flooring option around pools, whether they are freshwater pools or saltwater ones. These tiles are very easy to clean and maintain and are very slip resistant even when wet. The tiles are semi-permeable so they would allow water to flow through them and to the subfloor below. Since saltwater has salt, when it drys, it leaves the salt behind. This salt can get into the tiles and be very hard to clean out. We would recommend hosing down your pavers periodically to flush out the salts so that they don't get trapped in the tiles. The color can fade with these rubber tiles, but this process typically takes a good amount of time to occur. Most installations still look virtually new years after the initial install.
I am looking for a solution to keep water from watering plants on a second-floor wood deck from running through the cracks onto the first-floor deck. Would this product or one of your others work? I'm hoping not to have to use adhesive so that it can easily be removed and cleaned. I live in south Florida.

Since our Flagstone Rubber Pavers are semi-permeable, they would allow water to still flow to the balcony below, thus leaving you in the same boat that you are in now. To keep water from penetrating, we would recommend using a floor that is non-porous. A great floor for this would be our Nitro Rolls. This flooring would be UV resistant and is also non-porous preventing water from penetrating to the balcony below.
We are interested in using these tiles in our mudroom, but are worried about water getting underneath them and ruining the subfloor. What do you suggest we do?

To prevent water from getting under our Flagstone Rubber Pavers, we would suggest placing a plastic sheet under the tiles and also sealing the floor. First, you would need to seal the seams with our Seam Sealer glue. Next, we would suggest sealing the whole floor with our Floor Finish and Sealer. You will need to strip and replace the Floor Finish and Sealer one to two times a year depending on the amount of traffic on the floor.
Looking at this product to go around a pool in Florida? Will this product work for that type of application?

Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers would work well around a pool. These rubber tiles are very slip resistant even when wet and are cooler than concrete in direct sunlight. These rubber tiles are also very easy to clean and maintain and are mold and mildew resistant. These tiles are semi-porous, so water will not pool on top of the flooring ensuring a safe space to play and cool off.
I want to install these pavers inside my garage over a concrete floor. Is there any danger of this product emitting any type of fumes that I would need to worry about by using this in an enclosed space with little ventilation?

Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers would be safe to use in an enclosed space. There would be a rubber smell that will be associated with these tiles, but it is not noxious or dangerous. The rubber smell will go away over time. To help get rid of this smell faster, we recommend washing the floor with a mild soap and water solution and allowing for the floor to air dry with plenty of ventilation. This may need to be done a few times to get the smell to go away quickly. These pavers can be used as garage flooring and will not be affected by a car driving over them. One thing that can occur when using rubber flooring as garage flooring is that any oils that fall on it from your car will eventually break down the rubber. If your car does leak oil, we would recommend placing our Nitro Rolls or Auto Floor Guards mats in the area where you park your vehicle(s).
The reason we're looking for rubber flooring is due to having two overly energetic toddlers who tend to fall and hurt themselves. We're purchasing a home with a large wraparound brick patio and are searching for a protective, weather-resistant covering. Is this soft enough to provide cushioning for falls or is this a hard rubber surface?

Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers are softer than concrete or stone pavers, but could still cause some injury as they are not as soft as our playground rubber tiles or foam tiles. We would recommend either going with our playground flooring or going with our foam tiles over these tiles to help deaden their falls.
We are using your pavers on our roof garden. We are also considering buying some Corten steel planter boxes, which rust and weather. Will the rust be corrosive to the pavers or the membrane under them?

I have a deck over a garage with OSB with a coating of a rubberized paint. I am in rainy Seattle and concerned with damp conditions underneath the tiles. Would this work for this application?
Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers are semi-porous, so they may not be the best solution if you are concerned about moisture getting under the tiles. If you don't want any water pass through, you could seal the pavers to make them nonporous. You would do this by using our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer and our Seam Sealer glue. We do offer other products where water wouldn't pass through the flooring, which can be found in our wide range of outdoor flooring that can be found on our Outdoor Flooring page.

How would these stand up to large volumes of urine (aka doggy daycare)?

Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers are semi-porous and would be able to withstand large volumes of urine. To help mitigate the smell that could be produced, we would recommend hosing down the tiles frequently to keep the uring from getting trapped in the tiles. Also, you could use our Turf Fresh spray on the tiles to also mitigate the smell that could be produced.
We recently used your rubber flooring in our garage and are very happy with the product. I was looking at your rubber deck covering. We currently have Trex as our decking, but it has been down for years, and we have been staining it. Can we put your product over the Trex, will the runoff damage the underlying Trex, and does it have to be glued down or can it be spot glued?

You can install our Flagstone Rubber Pavers over Trex decking. The tiles will not affect the decking in any way. They don't have to be glued, but if you did want to glue them, you can. We recommend using our Seam Sealer glue at the seams to keep the flooring together.
This question has been asked and answered, but I have a slight twist to it. I want to make a small patio, so I'd be putting these over soil that has been cleared of grass. I'm thinking of using a hard rubber base that Home Depot sells as an alternative to paving sand. Would I need to glue these tiles onto that? Would such an application even work? I'm not ready for the expense of a professionally paved patio or deck.

No matter the subsurface, our Flagstone Rubber Pavers do not need to be glued down. These rubber tiles are heavy enough to stay down on their own. If for some reason you wanted a more permanent installation, you would just use our polyurethane adhesive.

You can install our Flagstone Rubber Pavers on a rubber roof. The rubber pavers are not interlocking, so to keep them in place, you may have to glue them to the rubber roof. If you didn't want to do that, You could also glue the pavers to each other with our Seam Sealer glue.
Can grass and weeds still grow in the cracks where they pavers connect?

How do you clean moss, and other substances that develop and make the pavers slippery?
Since our Flagstone Rubber Pavers are made from rubber, most substances don't really like to grow on them. But in those instances you have some moss growth, you can easily clean it off by hosing the tiles down and cleaning them with a mild soap and water solution.
I would like to use these tiles over a concrete, mirror-finish floor in a downstairs hall (7' by 10') in my multi-room barn. They would be "boxed in" by stairs, walls, and thresholds. Would I need to use adhesives to keep them in place or will these barriers be sufficient?

Yes, you can use the Flagstone Rubber Pavers for this purpose. The cheapest way to install them would be loose laying the tiles on the ground. You may use our Seam Sealer in between the tiles to close the seams.

Since our Flagstone Rubber Pavers are made of rubber, they are actually more slip-resistant when wet than dry. They will not get squishy when wet and dry fairly quickly after a normal rainstorm. We don't have any drain rate testing for these tiles, but they are porous, so they will drain fairly quickly.
Can these tiles be installed on a metal roof in a region where we have four seasons, which at times can be extremely cold?

Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers are designed to be used outdoor, so they will have a little stronger rubber smell compared to most of the rubber flooring that is designed internal use, but you can use them indoors. To help mitigate the rubber smell, we do recommend mopping them with a mild soap and water solution with a synthetic mop head. You will also need to make sure there is ample ventilation in the space where the rubber pavers are being installed. You may have to repeat this process a few times to truly dissipate the smell.

I live in SW Florida, so it gets really hot! I am thinking of installing the pavers under my bird feeders (no grass grows there), but am concerned about whether the pavers get so hot it would be detrimental to the birds or burn their feet.

Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers are semi-permeable and would not be a waterproof surface over another patio. The only way to make these rubber pavers waterproof would be to add a sealer to the flooring. Our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer would work, but you would need to reapply it quite often to ensure no water gets through the tiles. Also, we would recommend sealing the space between the tiles with our Seam Sealer glue.
If I want to use these tiles on a concrete porch, do I have to glue them down? If yes, what do you recommend?
You may loose lay them, without glueing them down. However, if you need a more permanent installation, our Polyurethane Adhesive would work best with these tiles.
I'm looking for an alternative to interior hallway flooring in buildings that service apartments. We've had carpet and that was a poor choice due to spills and tenants dragging trash bags that split open, etc. The subsurface is concrete, how easy are these to clean? We cannot run water on them, but could mop up accidents. Can they be removed and replaced if damaged?

We're building an outside patio with a 625 sq. ft. second floor deck. Might there be a weight concern with the 6 lb. weight per tile + the weight of rain water that can be held in the porous tile?
We wouldn't recommend using these pavers on a second-floor patio since they are semi-permeable and would allow water to still flow to the balcony below. Our Nitro Rolls would work great for this use. These rolls are UV resistant and non-porous preventing water from penetrating to the balcony below.
Can pavers be used on a gentle slope with smooth ground? Also, will there be gaps between tile where soil could build up and allow weed seeds to germinate?

I'm doing a rooftop deck over an EPDM rubber roof with AlphaGuard coating. I'm wondering if the Firestone bonding adhesive that I'm using to secure the rubber roof would be compatible with your Flagstone Rubber Pavers? Our summer heat is only moderate, but we do get long stretches of subzero winter temps, so I wanted to minimize shifting in this application with two open sides. Thanks in advance.

You can install our Flagstone Rubber Pavers as flooring on the deck of a pontoon boat, and customers have. Rubber flooring is very slip-resistant and more so when wet. These rubber tiles are not soft underfoot but are comfortable. The only thing you will notice is that they will get warm to the touch in direct sunlight. The tiles wouldn't damage your marine subfloor. Water is par for the course with any boat, and having these tiles over the subfloor will help reduce the amount of water that would hit the subfloor.

What is the warranty, and how long do the flagstone pavers last outside in the sun over a dirt area?

Our Flagstone Rubber Pavers don't have a manufacturer's warranty for them. These rubber pavers will last for as long as you own the tiles. You will just need to make sure to take care of the tiles with regular maintenance. A quick hose down and sweeping of any large debris is all that is necessary. The only thing you will notice when installed in direct sunlight is that the tiles will fade.

i bought the rubber pavers to make over my patio pad which was poured concrete and it discolored of the years and hard to keep clean so i decided to put down rubber pavers to make the patio new again. it was easy to install but the only thing was it was very hard to cut, but it was manageable i did like the directions said and glue the perimeter and kept the inside free. its nice to walk on either bare footed or wearing sneakers and easy to clean all i use to keep it clean right now is a leaf blower. i would recommend this product to any one.
