Keep your Strong Rubber Tiles looking as good as new with these easy maintenance tips:

  • Vacuum or sweep regularly to remove loose dirt and debris from the surface.
  • For a deeper clean, damp mop with a solution of mild soap and water. We recommend using Dawn dish detergent or Tide laundry detergent.
  • Avoid using solvent or oil-based cleaners such as Pinesol, Lysol, Murphy’s Oil Soap, WD40, or paint thinner as they can break down the flooring over time.
  • For commercial settings or more detailed cleaning instructions, please refer to our detailed cleaning guide.

With proper maintenance, your Strong Rubber Tiles will stay strong and looking great for years to come!

Installing your interlocking Strong Rubber Tiles is a breeze with these simple steps:

  • Start by thoroughly cleaning your subfloor to remove any dirt, grease, or debris.
  • Using a chalk line, mark a pair of perpendicular lines on the subfloor that are 24 inches away from adjacent walls to create a 90-degree angle.
  • Begin laying the interlocking tiles along the chalk lines, snapping the locks together as you go.
  • Leave the perimeter of the room open until the field is installed.
  • After the field is covered, go back and cut in lines along the walls in the room, leaving a gap roughly the thickness of tiles being used to account for expansion and contraction of the tiles in varied temperature ranges.

Note: Adhesives are not usually needed for interlocking tiles since the weight of the product keeps them in place, but if you experience movement, you can use double-sided tape or mat tape around the perimeter of the installation to prevent any shifting.

I have newly installed carpet and am looking to protect it from indentations from a stationary bike and treadmill? Any experience on this and will it be stable?
Anonymous
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designers Series have been used as a custom mats under treadmills and stationary bikes and will keep them from indenting your carpet. If the carpet is a low pile or medium pile carpet, stability will not be an issue.
We have a basement that sometimes leaks in water when it rains heavily--usually when our gutters are full of leaves and debris. We've had to rip up our carpet down there and I'm looking for a convenient solution other than replacing the carpet. Would these tiles be able to withstand some water and are they easily removed to dry out and put back down?
Sherry
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series are a great solution for your basement issues. Since these tiles are interlocking, if your basement were to flood you can easily remove the tiles and let them dry. Once dried and cleaned, you can then easily place them back in the basement. Also, if you start to see the basement flood, you can start to move the tiles before they all get wet saving you some time cleaning.
Can I put this over rental carpet?
michael
You can place our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series over rental carpet.
Can I use it in a residential garage that will double as a workout room. We will be parking a car on it also.
Anonymous
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series can be installed in a garage. If a car is parked over them, you would have to make sure no oil from the car gets on the flooring surface. Oil from the car can cause the floor to break down. Our rubber tiles are not the best product for this application due to separation that can occur when a car turns it wheels on the floor, but can still be used for this dual purpose. We do have these same colors in a roll format that will work better and we do also offer softer PVC tiles that will better handle the oils from the car and tires. Those tiles are part of our Flex Tile series.
Can these tiles be placed over vinyl plank flooring without the problem of discoloring the vinyl underneath?
Anonymous
Like oil and water, rubber and vinyl do not mix. We do not recommend placing rubber flooring over any vinyl due to the fact that discoloring of the vinyl can occur over time. But one way to get around this is by placing a plastic sheet between the rubber flooring and the vinyl. This will help to prevent staining of the vinyl underneath.
Can your 8mm rubber tile design series be used behind a bar or restaurant? Spills will happen and the floor is mopped every day .
Anonymous
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series tiles are great behind bars or as restaurant flooring. Rubber when wet is more slip resistant and is very easy to clean and maintain. To clean the floor, we recommend the use of our Rubber Floor Cleaner and Degreaser or a mild soap and water solution. You will want to use a synthetic mop head when mopping the flooring.
We want to place rubber tiles/mats on a hardwood floor, because we will be using half of our bonus room for exercise. We may want to remove the tiles later. Will they damage the hardwood? Should we use double stick tape for stability, even if we place the tiles wall-to-wall?
Pat
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series tiles can be placed over hardwood. These tiles do not need any tape for stability when placed wall-to-wall. When interlocked they hold each other down. The tiles typically do not stain hardwood, but there can be a possibility of staining over time. If staining is a concern, you can place a plastic sheet underneath the flooring.
I don't need 50 tiles. Why can't I just get 25 tiles of the 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series?
Anonymous
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series are custom made in batches. The minimum batch amount that can be made is 50 tiles. This helps to keep the color of the floor consistent.
There are parts of my basement which are uneven. Will the tiles work well on uneven concrete? Thanks!
Jolie
If the floor is slightly uneven, then the tiles would work just fine. If the floor is pretty uneven, then we would recommend using the roll instead.
Will water flow through?
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series tiles are semi-porous meaning that there is potential for water to flow through the tiles. The pores in the tiles are not typically all the way through the tile, but there is potential for a few to go all the way through.
Is the 23-inch dimension including or excluding the interlocking tabs?
John Pigman
The 23" x 23" size of our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series does include the tabs on the tiles.
How long is the interlocking feature of this center tile if I were to make it a border tile by cutting off the locking feature on 1 of the 4 sides of the tile?
The interlocking tab on our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series is about an inch long.
What specs do you have on the chemical makeup of the materials and processes in these tiles to take into account with small children playing around them indoors?
Anonymous
Spec sheets and MSDS sheets can be obtained for the 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series from our customer service reps via email. All of our rubber flooring is thoroughly tested and is safe for kids and adults alike.
Will a concrete floor sweat under the rubber tiles or do you have to paint the concrete first?
Tom
Concrete is a porous surface and can sweat if there is a water issue. If you do have water coming up from the concrete, you can either seal the floor or place a plastic sheet between the flooring and the concrete.
These will be installed in a computer room. What is the ESD rating of these mats? Is there any issue with installing the tiles over low-pile commercial carpeting? Also, on the outer edge pieces, are there separate pieces available to square the mats interlocking sides off or do i just cut them off? Can I roll chairs on this mat?
Anonymous
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series tiles are not tested for ESD. So no rating can be given. These tiles can be installed over a low pile commercial carpet. To create a smooth edge, you would have to cut the tiles with a straight edge and a utility knife. Since these rubber tiles are dense and and smooth, a chair can be easily rolled over them.
What do the percentages stand for next to color names - e.g., Coffee Creek is 95% and Terracotta is 10%?
Anonymous
The numbers next to the colors stand for the amount of color that is present in the tiles. So the amount of color that is in our Terracotta tile is 10%, whereas in our Coffee Creek tile it is 95%. So the higher the percentage, the less black you will see.
Can I use 8mm strong tiles on a rubber roof deck?
Bob
Yes, our 8mm Strone Rubber Tiles - Designer Series can be used on a rubber roof deck.
Does this product have an odor?
Anonymous
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series tiles do have a slight odor to them. Similar to a new shoe or plastic toy. The smell can be mitigated by mopping the tiles with a mild soap and water solution and letting them air dry. The key here is to allow as much air flow to go through the room so that the room can air out properly.
Are there corner and one-side straight edge tiles available for wall side and corners?
Anonymous
These tiles are only available as center cut tiles.
Can these tiles be installed in a bathroom?
Anonymous
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series can be installed in a bathroom.
Would these tiles be suitable to lay over an outside mostly protected deck?
Renee
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series tiles can be laid outside over a mostly protected deck. These tiles are resistant to mold and mildew and will not harbor any bacteria. In direct sunlight, there is a potential for some fading.
hello , I have installed dricore 2x2 subfloor panels in our basement and wondering if these tiles can go right on top.do I need an underlayment or is it recommended? do these tiles have a rubbery odor to them and if so does it ever go away?
Peter
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series can be installed right over your subfloor panels. No underlayment would be needed. The tiles do have a slight rubber smell that dissipates over time. To help speed up this process, we recommend mopping the tiles will a mild soap and water solution and letting the tiles air dry in a well ventilated space.
Do they smell?
Maria
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series do have a smell to them. If you are sensitive to smells, we recommend mopping the floor with a mild soap and water solution and letting it air dry.
Can these tiles be installed over a hardwood floor without damaging the surface, in case they are removed in the future?
Anonymous
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series can be installed over most hardwood floors without damaging them. If there is concern that the floor may damage your hardwood, we recommend placing a plastic sheet under the tiles to prevent any unforeseen damage.
Can these be used outdoors?
Anonymous
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series can be used outdoors. Since these tiles are not UV stable, there will be some fading. These tiles are very easy to clean and maintain and are mold and mildew resistant.
What is the % number that shows up next to each different color of the 8MM rubber tile floor tiles?
Wendy
The % number of our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series and all of our rubber flooring corresponds to the amount of color that is in the flooring. The higher the percentage, the more color you will have in your floor.
I am considering putting this flooring down in my small, drive-thru only, coffee shop. We spill often and occasionally drop things. Would this be a good option?
Susan
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series tiles would work perfectly as flooring in your coffee shop. These tiles are slip resistant and more slip resistant when wet and are very easy to clean and maintain. These rubber tiles are also mold and mildew resistant.
If these tiles don't have edge or corner pieces available, how do you install against/under trim? Cut off the locking tabs?
Anonymous
To create corner and border tiles for our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series you will have to cut the tabs off with a sharp utility knife and straight edge.
Any thoughts about installing these tiles over hydronic heated concrete floors?
Daniel
You can install our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series over a heated floor. These tiles will not be destroyed by it. If you do install our rubber tiles over a heated floor, you will not get the inherent benefits of having the heated floor. Rubber is a great insulator and will keep most of the heat from coming through.
Can you use these tile in an enclosed porch with storm window that is not heated?
peterson gachagua
You can install our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series in an enclosed porch that is not heated. These tiles are made from the treads of commercial truck tires and are very durable in all types of weather. The only thing that you will notice is that when it is warmer, your floor will expand and when it is cooler it will shrink. As long as you have an expansion gap around your floor, this shouldn't be much of an issue.
I would like to use them on an exterior deck, will they perform well with temperature variations and sunshine?
Anonymous
You can install our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series on our outdoor deck. These tiles are slip resistant whether wet or dry and are resistant to mold and mildew. These tiles are very easy to clean and maintain and can expand and contract with extreme heat and cold. The only thing you will notice with these tiles is that they will fade in direct sunlight.
I sell Headstone monuments and I'm looking to replace the current tile floor (over concrete). What product do you sell that would hold up to our moving heavy monuments across the floor without causing any damage to the floor. Monuments are then place on boards while on display in showroom.
Pat Vogel
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series would hold up to heavy monuments being moved over them. These tiles are used in commercial gyms where heavy weight-equipment is dropped and slid across them on a daily basis. We do recommend when moving anything over any flooring type that one uses furniture sliders or something similar as to not cause unintended damage to the floor.
Which of the rubber tiles has the least rubber smell after installation?
Mike
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series have the least rubber smell of all of our recycled rubber products. The more color our rubber has, the less odor it will have. So the 95% colored tiles would have the least smell of all of our rubber tiles as would our full color virgin rubber tiles. So the rule of thumb would be, the more color our rubber has, the less smell it will have.
Can it be used in a bathroom? Would there be a problem with water?
alan
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series can be used as flooring in a bathroom. These tiles are water resistant and are very slip resistant when wet. These rubber tiles are also mold and mildew resistant. To make them totally non-porous, we recommend using our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer. This will ensure that your floor looks great and will also help to keep any salts from getting into your rubber tiles as the water evaporates.
Can these rubber tiles be used on a screened in porch that sometimes gets wet? Will it mold?
Randy Weyant
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series can be installed in a screened in porch that sometimes gets wet. These tiles are mold and mildew resistant and are water resistant as well. These rubber tiles are also very slip-resistant even when wet. To clean these tiles, we recommend sweeping up and large dirt and debris and then mopping the floor with a mild soap and water solution. This will help to keep your flooring looking great for years to come.
Can the 8mm Coffee Creek color tile hold up in my home gym with a Parabody universal machine on it, and when I drop a maximum of 150-pound barbell free weights on it? My wall-to-wall carpet is getting chewed up from me dropping barbells on it.
Philip Lawson
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series would hold up well in your home gym with equipment on it and also with barbells being dropped on them. These tiles are the same as the flooring that is used in commercial gyms. In the area where you drop the 150 lb dumbbell, we would recommend adding a little extra padding. If you add our Premium mat in that area, it will not only protect the tiles long term but will also protect your subfloor long term. This type of setup is the same that you see in a commercial gym for those very reasons.
Since our fitness room floor is concrete with a humid environment existing in the crawl space under it, I would like to install Proflex 90 mil Membrane Underlayment barrier under the tiles - is this okay to do?
Trudy Congine
You can use the Proflex 90 mil Membrane Underlayment under our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series.
Can it be installed over Radiant Heat Floor system?
Larry
You can install our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series over a radiant heat floor system. The heat from the system will not melt the tiles. Since our rubber tiles are insulating, you may not feel the full effects of having the radiant heat floor system.
Can I use 8mm rubber tiles on a tile covered basement floor and use an elliptical and Total Gym on it without damaging the tile flooring? There will be no heavy impact during the workouts.
Maria
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series can be used over tile to protect it from weights and gym equipment. These tiles are the same rubber flooring that you would see in any commercial gym and are very easy to install and maintain. Since these tiles are made from rubber, they will help to keep your basement warmer than tile or concrete would.
What are the thermal properties of this flooring like compared to carpet tiles and underlayment? We'd be putting it on a concrete floor in a semi-insulated freestanding outbuilding, and we'd like to warm the place up by insulating the floor a bit.
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series are insulating, but not to the same extent as carpet or a non-porous underlayment. These rubber tiles will provide some warmth compared to concrete or tile.
Do they need to go the expanse of the entire room, or can we put in four to cover only the workout space?
You can order as many 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series as you like. We do have a minimum order for this product of 50 tiles due to the difference in dye lots that can be used to make an order.
Can we put this over tile and avoid staining or slippage? Is 8mm enough for home heavy gym usage? (daily for 60 min a day).
You can install our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series over tile. These tiles would not slip or stain the tile. Rubber is very slip resistant and is even more slip resistant when wet. 8mm is commonly used in both commercial and home gyms and is the most popular thickness for home gyms. So, yes, it will be great for a heavily used home gym.
Are these tiles waterproof? Vulcanized? Will they stain an epoxy/polyurethane coated concrete garage floor?
garrett matsunaga
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series are not waterproof but are water-resistant. They are not vulcanized either. These tiles will not stain an epoxy or polyurethane coated garage floor. If there were concerns that it might, we do recommend placing a plastic sheet between the tiles and the subfloor.
Will these tiles fade in direct sunlight?
WILLIAM JAKOBLEFF
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series is somewhat UV stable but will fade in direct sunlight over time. Depending on the color, depends on how noticeable the change will be and how much of the floor gets exposed to the sun.
What is the size of one tile?
Linda Czyzak
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series come in 23" x 23" tiles.
How much does one 8mm rubber tile weigh?
michael d krieger
One 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series tile weighs approximately 8 lbs.
I plan on using the rubber tile in an area that will also serve as a home office. Will my wheeled office chair get bogged down on this tile or not glide smoothly?
Loretta
Wheels on office chairs will roll easily over our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series. These tiles are not squishy like foam. They are the same as the rubber flooring that you find at your local gym.
Can you use these tiles outside around a swimming pool? Can they stay out all winter long?
Jacco
You can use our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series outdoors around a pool. These tiles are very slip resistant and are more slip resistant when wet. These tiles are very easy to clean and maintain and are mold and mildew resistant. The only thing you will notice is that over time, these tiles will fade in direct sunlight.
The 8mm rubber roll flooring designer (colored) has a 5 yr manufacturer warranty and is made in the USA. Who is the manufacturer? Are they environmentally conscious? Are they a green company?
Robert
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series are made in our production facility in PA. These tiles are very eco-friendly as they are made from the treads of commercial truck tires. With us making these tiles, it helps to keep tires from being dumped into landfills across the country. Our facility is very green and actually recycles all parts of the materials used to make our flooring to make other products like material for tennis shoes, automotive parts, and much more.
If I lay these tiles on a concrete floor, will walking on them have some cushion, or will the floor still feel hard to walk on?
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series will provide some cushion over a concrete floor, but will not be as cushioned as say a foam mat or tile over concrete. If you are looking for a rubber product that will provide you with more ergonomics than our standard rubber flooring, we recommend purchasing our Eco-Flec Rubber Rolls, our Impact Rubber Rolls, or our Black Regrind Rubber Rolls. These products have been made to provide more comfort underfoot compared to our standard rubber products.
Are recycled tires used in the 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer series?
Steve
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series are constructed with recycled treads of truck tires and EPDM flecs.
How do you clean for regular use? Can you vacuum?
Sharon Mendes
Cleaning our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series is very easy. For large dirt and debris, you can sweep it up or use a vacuum with the brush turned off. For stuck-on dirt and debris, we recommend mopping the floor with a mild soap and water solution with a mop that either has a synthetic mop head or a sponge mop. You would then just let the floor air dry.
I've read that how interlocking tiles are cut makes a big difference. Are you interlocking tiles precision or laser cut, so they fit together very tightly/snugly?
Brian
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series tiles are die-cut. These tiles interlock very tightly and are virtually seamless. The most seamless appearing tiles are ones that are water jet cut, but die-cut tiles can have the same seamless look as hose tiles.
I am planning to install Strong Rubber Tiles in an enclosed non-climate-controlled room attached to our house with an existing brick and mortar floor. Is it safe to install the tile wall to wall (16x8 ft) directly on top of the brick floor or should I place a plastic membrane down first?
You can install our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series over any hard flat surface, so you can install these over an existing brick and mortar floor without placing a plastic sheet between the rubber tiles and the bricks.
Do you need to allow for expansion and contraction? Aside from color options are there any other differences in quality between your designer series and other 8 mm flooring?
With all of our flooring, we recommend leaving an expansion gap for expansion and contraction. This will prevent your floor from buckling with extreme temperature changes. The only difference between our 8mm thick rubber options truly is just the colors that we offer.
Is the top smooth or textured? Is it easily mopped?
Bob
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series are smooth on the top and bottom, and can be easily mopped with a synthetic or sponge mophead.
Does this rubber smell bad or it is odorless?
rick
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series aren't technically odorless, but they don't smell like your standard rubber floor due to the amount of color in the floor. The rubber that is used to color the floor is pretty much odorless and smells more like a new toy. Since these rubber tiles are still made with some recycled rubber, you still may notice a slight rubber smell.
Moving into a new house and want to turn a current carpeted basement bedroom into a home gym. The room has standard carpet (medium pile, I assume?). Do I need to lay plywood between the carpet and rubber tiles to ensure a stable surface?
Ryan
For any carpet that is not a low pile carpet, we would recommend placing a 1/4" plywood board over the carpet before installing our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series. This will help to prevent the tiles from separating when the pad under the carpet depresses, which in turn, prevents a tripping hazard.
I am interested in these tiles for my home CrossFit gym. I expect a decent amount of dropping barbells with rubber bumper plates on them (ranging from 95-350 lbs or more). Are these tile suitable and durable enough for this?
John Chunta
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series have been used in both home and commercial gyms and are great as flooring for Cross Fit type exercises.
Would these tiles be good to use around a pool?
Sue
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series can be used as flooring around a pool. Rubber flooring is very slip-resistant and even more so when wet. Our rubber flooring is also mold and mildew resistant and is very easy to clean and maintain.
Do you sell edge tiles of sorts, so one doesn’t have to cut a straight edge along the room's perimeter? Concerned about wavy cuts.
Tiffany
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series don't come with any edge pieces. They only come as center tiles and will need to be cut to turn them into corner or border tiles.
Should a underlayment with vapor barrier be used with this product installed in a basement on concrete?
You would not need an underlayment but if you have moisture issues within your concrete, then yes you would want to install a vapor barrier before putting the tiles down.
I am looking at your 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series tiles as flooring in my pottery studio. Would clay messes be a problem on them?
Pottery messes would not be an issue for our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series. These interlocking rubber tiles are very easy to clean and maintain. Just sweep or vacuum any large dirt and debris. For any stuck-on messes, you can easily mop the tiles with a mild soap and water. Make sure to use a mop with a synthetic or sponge mop head.
Everything I have read says that rubber tiles are a good flooring solution when you have pets and there are occasional accidents. My husband wants to ask you, though, are they resistant to cat or dog urine? We are thinking of using these for our basement. Can they tolerate having a washer and dryer set on them? Thanks!
Louisa Shelby
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series can handle spills of any kind. These rubber tiles are semi-porous, so you will still want to clean any spills right away. If you don't, the liquid won't go through the tiles. What will happen is that the liquid will eventually evaporate, and what is left are the salts in the liquid. These tiny salts can get caught in the pores in the floor. To prevent this, we recommend sealing our rubber flooring with our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer. Since these are interlocking rubber tiles, you will want to ensure they are interlocked tightly to prevent liquids from flowing between the cracks. To really make these joints water-tight, we recommend using one of our seam sealer glues. Our rubber flooring is designed to be used in commercial and residential gyms where heavy weight equipment is present. This means our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series would work perfectly under your washer and dryer.
Can rubber flooring be used in a home kitchen?
Our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series can be installed in a home kitchen. Rubber is very slip-resistant, and more so when wet. It is also very easy to clean and maintain and resistant to mold and mildew growth. Now, these rubber tiles are not non-porous but are semi-porous. The pores don't go through the floor, but fine organic material can get caught in those pores. To make the floor non-porous, we recommend sealing the floor with our Rubber Floor Finish and Sealer. This will help fill in those pores keeping any fine organic material out.
We have a concrete basement slab to which a carpet was glued. Can the rubber tiles be placed on top of the old adhesive, or do we have to scrape off the adhesive first?
Stephen
You can install our 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series over old glue. The only thing you will want to make sure of is that the surface is level, so the tiles interlock properly.
Will a office chair roll over these?
Paul J Walker
The 8mm Strong Rubber Tiles - Designer Series of tiles are typically used for flooring in areas such as gymnasiums and weight rooms, where heavy equipment and foot traffic are common, but they may not provide as much traction for chair wheels as other surfaces. If you are concerned about this you may consider using a different type of tile with more grip or adding a mat under the chair.

Our New Basement Floor - The Best Decision We Made
Self-installed in Basement
Emily from Portland, Oregon wrote...
Completed a basement remodel for a home business. What to put on the floor?!? We had much to consider: rainy Portland, wanted something extremely durable, easy to clean, quiet and soft. Could not find anything that fit our needs. Started to notice my gym's flooring and looked online for rubber flooring. We had a very difficult time trying to decide on the color. Because the ceilings are low, we did not want a dark floor and a dark room. We loved the Designer Series Strong Rubber, 8mm, in the tan color. The price held us back a bit. We could not find anything comparable. So, we went ahead with our order, but were still worried if we would like it. My husband installed the flooring. It was very easy for him to do. It totally transformed our room. Our contractors kept telling us, the floor was beautiful and was the ″STAR″ of the remodel. They marveled at how you couldn't even see the seams! I found that odd, since they didn't praise anything they did! My customers all ask, ″What is this flooring?″ ″It is REALLY nice!″ This floor never looks dirty! People track in dirt and little rocks, kids have eaten in there and left crumbs all over. But, you never see anything on the floor. The seams are really tight and the tiles are heavy, so dirt doesn't stick between the tiles. We have accidentally dropped heavy tools on the floor and there are no nicks or dents! Couple of things to think about. We put masking tape on the floor, before we painted the woodwork. It left darker gummy marks in some areas. We can't get it off (never did call the company to find a solution). Thankfully we bought extra tiles. Do not put masking tape on the floor! Also, the plywood underneath the tiles, was not perfectly flat. When we walked on the rubber tiles we could feel raised spots. We removed the tiles and scraped down the floor in those areas. The tiles lift off easily with a paint can opener. Beautiful looking and extremely durable floor!!

Installed on cement basement floor for home exercise room. Looks great! Color is perfect. The installation took my husband and I approx. 5 hrs, cutting around the walls and a closet was the trickiest. We are very happy with the final look.
